Pumpkin pie is an excellent controlled laxative.

A little heavy on the fat and sugar, but it works and most guys love pumpkin pie....(proven: it's literally 'a guy thing')

It's a perfect excuse to have pumpkin pie in the house at all times.

And if one looks closely, immortality is already here. I pay close attention to this stuff. I'm not kidding in the slightest. Or, see it as living well enough with altered in situ genetics (genetic manipulation -induced rejuvenation)...long enough..for the next round of advances to extend that even further. Can't say though, that what comes out the other end will be the same person or not, some 200+ years later...

Of course, due to the need for the universe to balance itself, the dark complimentary mirror twin of that is also coming to life at the same speed, and that is the destruction of the extant human world in a mirrored duplicate. It's a gauntlet. Run through it if you want, or let it go...

All I'm trying to say, is the opportunity and the window is there, it's coming into shape....for those who want to make a run for it. Wake up. Pay attention.

The air cavities, both directly behind the membrane and the larger one behind the perforated back-plate have been found to have the strongest influence, not what the author expected.

I guess no one there has ever designed or tried to improve a tweeter...... over specialization in the crafts and trades can indeed be a problem when reaching for solutions in the given problem areas encountered in the given field.

Very odd. My vacuum is very noisy. I guess if I take the bag out, disconnect the hose and run the wire out the hole, I could test it..

But there is certainly a lot of air in there, perhaps his vacuum is broken?😀

Granted, the question of mic distortion products is important for absolutes, but to determine if a specific fb mechanism helps, I would think just repeating the test with only the driver wiring changed would be a good first "contact".

ps...sigh...doin a gig tomorrow, 8 mics, all the speakers are over 75 years of age, little if any experience talking into a mic, in a room that is so live that it takes over a second for a handclap to go away, all sitting on one end of the room with their backs to a 25 foot by 15 foot wall of glass and hard surface (think acoustic mirror), and those in charge refused to allow me to put a backdrop behind them to absorb reflections.

What could possibly go wrong...😱😱

As someone who is involved in acoustics, it makes me wince just to read that.

Just pretend you are running a sound board at a cheap bar's stage area.

Just turn it up louder. That'll work.....gangbusters. No, it's true. Really...

I knew it would eventually happen. Despite all my attempts, all my wishes, my hopes and prayers....

We have agreed on something..jn and KBK have agreed...😀😀

I ended up dumping all mikes except for the person speaking at the time, that was the only way to reduce feedback such that it didn't sound like speaking into a barrel.

Little did we know, two of the speakers talked with their hands. At the end of every sentence, they punctuated with both hands banging on the table. EVERY SINGLE SOLITARY SENTENCE ENDED WITH A BANG..
So much so that I would watch their hands, and drop channel gain as the hands went down...sigh.

Note to self: NEVER ever use the cheap fold up tables for seating speakers, as they transmit the vibration to every single mic. If that is unavoidable, always carry around a low density foam mat to put under the draping cloth the entire length of the tables, so that when they hit the surface, it's quiet. And always carry around 12" by 12" 1/4 inch thick plywood "coasters" should any of the panelists decide to have water with them..

Second note: Next time I build 7 mic tabletop stands, I'm going to include low density foam feet to limit transfer of bangs.

Ah, note 3..tell the emcee that if they are going to clap their hands, put the D##M wireless mic down!!

I'm sorry, man, I'll try not to do it again........

Lets get this fixed...

You wanna start?

I can always go back, find a common sense well elucidated post of yours.... and then add some convoluted remarks. That always works.

Hey. Destroyer ! 🙂

A week ago, my doctor calls me into his office and says I am going to die right away. I need to go to ER, now.

So, as usual, I think about it for a couple days. I decided to go to ER and see what the noise is all about. To make long story shorter--- my last lab work was done back east. The ER did same test and says it isnt so bad. I leave and take same test a couple days later... within norm.

BUT....

I was just wondering how long I could go doing nothing. Asian doctors said, Just Live with it. You are old. Die from this or die from something else.
Hmm. Interesting philosophy. Could I go to Bangkok first or not. I decided, Oh Well, might as well get the inevitable over with and I had surgery 3 days ago to implant a catheter for later plug me in to dialysis gizmo.

This is newer technique -- not blood filtering -- Can do cleaning while you sleep and machine is small and portable. Also, better results 🙂

Anyway, they didnt kill me. 🙂 I am here to bother everyone for years to come with my stupid questions.

Interesting your kidneys go back and forth. Perhaps the Asian doctors are onto something... you're old and things just aren't going to work the way they use to. Kudos if you can sleep with that in you.

Different could be a bit related to fluctuations in diet/digestions. My 1st cousin has some health issues but he eats for 4 people at a time... I assume you don't eat several steaks in one sitting. I just mean that depending on the time of day you see them, maybe you get different results.

I've been very poorly diagnosed before, and left to my own to solve the issues. I developed sleep paralysis once. Let me tell you, waking up unable to move, not able to breath, and only able to see the back of your eyelids is alarming. I was told it was "stress". It wasn't.

PMA, why don't you just finish your measurements of the different drives for speakers? I would love to get back to circuit design in general, and not be diverted by speaker distortion. As far as personal problems, I appreciate that others share their health situation, as most of us older guys do have concerns as well. I would think that younger people would be the first to complain out our discussing our various ailments once in awhile.

Well said. And isn't it strange to discuss own health troubles on a public internet forum? We all who "came in (senior) age" have our health issues 😀, but I do not think we need to share it in public 🙂

Absolutely 100%. In this age of public declaration of "feelings" where people use distress and alarm like weapons I find myself needing a safe place 🙄

I for one think if one wants to share, that's fine and it's probably in our best interest to silence that speech, especially if the alternative is the person telling no one at all. Obviously, there needs to be a lot of respect around the issue as well.

I can think of a 100,000 things more trite than discussing one's health. Now, I think the danger of discussing health stuff is also pretty high: when we don't practice evidence/science-based audio, generally no one gets hurt. When we don't practice evidence/science-based medicine, injury/illness/not seeking appropriate treatment are very very very real risk factors.

SJ -- you use this very forum purely as a vehicle for your entertainment, which looks more and more that you just like to state your opinion about everything and provide very little content, and you're complaining/censoring people discussing "feelings"?! To me that reads like speaking out of both sides of your mouth, depending on when it's most convenient.

Firstly, you are wrong. Secondly, if you were right, so what?

Well then we have a perception issue, and a cop out rather than owning up for trivializing someone's major health issues, respectively. Maybe have a bit more respect for your fellow man?

Say what you will, but I'm utterly disappointed by your response above belittling Richard.
