Then there is MathCad (have a friend who codes there) which makes an attempt at getting the output readable. I lost my licence with the downfall of my last XP machine. I used it to check the only maths I ever did that got quoted in a textbook.
Mathcad is gone is it not? I have up through 11 and really liked it. Way more then I ever needed but I liked the graphs and interface.

A German company bought them out some years ago, and rewrote the program. Old files may not be compatible. Their free version is here: PTC Mathcad | PTC

To an older topic in the thread, Marsh, how are the kidneys? I suppose you’d stop posting if they ever truly quit.
I drove by the Mathworks offices last week, don't know how they are doing, but I could ask my friend (actually my son's high school classmate).Mathcad is gone is it not? I have up through 11 and really liked it. Way more then I ever needed but I liked the graphs and interface.

Hey. Destroyer ! 🙂
Kidney's? Terrible. Lot's of drama.
A week ago, my doctor calls me into his office and says I am going to die right away. I need to go to ER, now.
So, as usual, I think about it for a couple days. I decided to go to ER and see what the noise is all about. To make long story shorter--- my last lab work was done back east. The ER did same test and says it isnt so bad. I leave and take same test a couple days later... within norm.
BUT....
I was just wondering how long I could go doing nothing. Asian doctors said, Just Live with it. You are old. Die from this or die from something else.
Hmm. Interesting philosophy. Could I go to Bangkok first or not. I decided, Oh Well, might as well get the inevitable over with and I had surgery 3 days ago to implant a catheter for later plug me in to dialysis gizmo.
This is newer technique -- not blood filtering -- Can do cleaning while you sleep and machine is small and portable. Also, better results 🙂
Right now I am living on Opioid pain meds. Wow.... I feel like I was shot with a machine gun.... 5 holes in my belly. Did I say it is painful? Day 3, I feel better. ... only used 2 pain pills. But new problem/side-effect of anti-bacterial and pain pills... constipation. How to end that?
Anyway, they didnt kill me. 🙂 I am here to bother everyone for years to come with my stupid questions.

🙂 😎

Hi Richard,
Good luck, I hope things go better than forecast.
Constipation, oh yeah, familiar with that as I'm on painkillers as well. The best thing you can do is drink plenty of water (within reason of course!), laxatives. Take one every day no matter how you are doing. Do your best to have a "movement" every day, don't let it get to three days, which it can easily do. I'm on Oxyneo (Oxycontin), but it is the "break through pain medicine that really does me in. 5mg oxycontin and 325 mg of something else like tylenol. I used to know, I used to care. Take as little of that stuff as you can. The oxycontin doesn't seem to be as bad as the breakthrough medication. I think that tablet is called endocet.
Do take the painkiller as needed. You need sleep more than anything and if pain keeps you up, the pain will get worse as will everything else. I really can't stress getting enough sleep as you should have (note that I didn't as "as you need").
I can only get 5 hours a night with all these painkillers, often less. Pain keeps me up and wakes me up, A truly no-win situation because the government decided all on their own that 60mg / day is the max dose. I was on 80 mg / day for years before this bright idea lit up my landscape.
Excess pain also makes it difficult to think and retain memories. So it is actually fairly important to you to ease the pain a little, just don't take too much or abuse it. Somehow I don't think that will be your problem. It's a fight inside yourself.
Take care, Chris

Chris and Richard,
Wow, so sorry to hear to guys are each in your own very painful situations and Richard's serious health problem. Wishing you both the best. Maybe best to leave it at that for now.
Richard: I would like to come out for a social visit sometime when you are feeling maybe more like visitors.
Best,
Mark

Hi Richard,
Occasionally I get 6 hours, but that's bragging. 🙂
Thanks Mark, John,
Lack of sleep makes a person stupid, and grumpy. 14 years of this and I'm used to it. Compared to my normal self, I am stupid and grumpy. The surprising thing is that I'm still married.

I had a fractured/crushed vertebra 10+ years back......But new problem/side-effect of anti-bacterial and pain pills... constipation. How to end that?
The constipation p.i.t.a. added to/multiplied the injury pain in the back and only worsened my situation so I went off any painkillers after two days out of the hospital and healed without any meds at all for six months (in a body brace).
Your situation is worse than mine was, I wish you good luck with your healing Richard.
Dan.
Hey, it isnt all bad news.... The pain will go away. Then back to life as usual... with only a minor adjustment. But here is some good news.... I only need to live long enough to see my girl get her EE degree. Today she changed college to university that is much better in EE program. 🙂
