i see you are in the UK. how is the immigration going there?😀
Well, you're still in America, so I guess its working fine...
; -)
I do.
I reserve judgment.
I find most have partial knowledge. Sometimes, very partial.

I hate all these smart gadgets..I refuse to buy things that are smarter than me. I've made a list of those things... Cabbage just made the list.

love it!🙂
this is a 'crap' statement: [With over 30 years industry experience and an audio system of my own that implements all of the above, I do not feel the need to answer to such an imbecilic (and erroneous) comment.]
i can tell when someone is a grifter by the response to a challenge. i challenged you to prove that this type of system is worth "...the extra effort of using current drive even more worthwhile." and you call me names.
ok. again, prove it. or will you call me more names?

30 years...
I'm impressed.😉

Someday those who worry about speaker magnetic design will actually understand it. Maybe not.

i don't understand the mathematics. i barely understand it conceptually. i'm not an EE or AE.
but, i don't worry about it. music is to be appreciated. the electronics and acoustic devices allow us this experience. and the sound is pretty good. it is better now than in the past.😀

I understand both. It is interesting seeing what others comprehend.
Some are good, some are not quite there.

I am pondering the issue on driver impedance design for a wide range driver. Does it make sense to design for flat impedance over the design bandwidth?
I understand both.
The key is to know what you don't understand and how to find someone that does.

using a very simple model, the driver itself is much like a trampoline.

I know. That is actually my work life.
Yes, they are equally difficult at times.
Trampolines are linear. A vc energized and moving within a gap is not. There are many effects.using a very simple model, the driver itself is much like a trampoline.

Unfortunately, work is the easy part. Life, not so much.

For example, grounding one side of the voice coil to the driver basket and the amp does eliminate the capacitance between basket and voice coil. Difference is audible, but I have not done measurement comparison.
I am sure there is a theoretical explanation for this.

Then I would suggest you would do better to consider the contributions of those that do. The impedance of a drive unit is not a simple function.
And interestingly too, the sound is not always better now than it was in the past as you will find if you investigate old AlNiCo based motors.

Are you always this aggressive? Might be a good idea to wind it back, or are you just trying to shut down discussion?
.
Joe, normally it is the bandwidth of the sensor and the associated phase lag. You could do more complicated digital processing to the feedback signal, but really, it is not a cost effective solution.
Yeah, I see what you mean.

Thank you for your support 🙂 There is another related new thread in this forum on current drive amplifiers that I have chosen to respond to instead.
