Not sure where I should be posting but are there any guides on a DIY DAC?
I don't mean some discrete R2R DAC or anything like that I mean using ICs. My knowledge of coding is near zero same with fair bit of the digital design side. Got no problem with analogue though, anyone know of anything?
Ultimately want low THD (<-115db THD) and noise, again analogue electronics side is no problem.
Was thinking of a ESS9038pro?
But as I have had no experience anything I could start with to learn?

I do not like the ideea to have în the same package complex digital schematic together with low noise analogic circuit. I simply do not have trust that The digital noise will not go in the analogic low noise circuit. The measurements can be easy made to show low noise and distorsionează by simplu don't measure în the right spectrum zone.
This is my favorite dac, LemonDAC.
Wolfson WM8805 receiver, Sabre9023P DAC, Atmega1284p Controller.
Salas pre-regulator, 8 super low noise dc-dc converters (LT3042, TPS7A4700x)
Individual PSU for controller, display and usb receiver.
The engraving of the case has be made on a diy CNC.

Really like this!
here you goI'd appreciate a picture of the insides, too..

WOW
Where do you get your casework/lettering done?
Lovely work.
P.
My new version!
PCM63x4, Coaxial and AES/EBU input.
Very nice,
can we have some more pics of the external casework?
Also, where did you get the case? Did it come with those internal separation pieces? If not, where did you source those?
I always find doing the casework the hardest part !!
Cheers,

Hi Percival007,
The case from China (~25$)
And I did internal separation of the plastic (10mm) and the copper tape.
It's good for unti-noise.

Drool!
Gorgeous! I'm interested in knowing what you used for the jumpers from board to board. I'm not familiar with those & love that look. They look like they screw in, coax-like. Great job!

That's a sweet setup. I thought those were SMA, just wasn't 100% sure from the photos. I would have never thought of using those. I actually use those in a couple of field monitoring devices I have created for clients. Used the IP67 bulkheads which looked bigger than what you used.

Tks nixternal, Great job of you 🙂

Looks great. Why no I2S/USB input though?
hi thuanth43, I'm from VN tooLooks great. Why no I2S/USB input though?
Not included I2S and USB input because my CD transport have only coax and aes/ebu digital output.
But very simple to add I2S/USB to Dac.
Tks
