This preamp designed by AKSA might be useful as a MoFo driver.

It's a go. We're working out the logistics to sell the boards in the diyAudio store. 🙂
That's great news for those of us who can't make it to BA2017 🙁.
Ordered some 193V...now have to get some power supplies... 🙂
24VDC 5A POWER SUPPLY | All Electronics Corp.
I'm staying home, so we'll all have to hang out together and comiserate. 🙂

The Bride of Zen preamp has lots of gain. I eventually put a 2:1 step down transformer in front of the circuit to reduce what was too much gain for my system. But in stock form it might work with the MOFO.
Michael,
I've used the very same (or same looking and same specs) with two in series to power my FW amps and they work very well. Less noise than linear trafos. If you pair them up with a 7amp DC to DC converter you can get up to 50vdc supply within same power rating minus efficiency loss.
I need to order the transformers from Mouser and I can start building. I have the above PSU bricks already, heatsinks, a bunch of IRFP240 and 150's. I also now have a Preamp that can drive 20v p-p for 6w rms with the following distortion profile predicted and measured.

Not to take anything away from what's his name, or Mike but, I just wanna throw out the mfg. name Pathos...

Everybody is building?
But no one is writing down there thoughts on or compare too other amplifiers?
In your own words its sonic characteristics?
Thank you
Lawrence

look further back ........ much further
there are some worth mentioning , not modern makers of overpriced damnhotscorchingeurekathingies
😛
My first electronics book had a class A amp in it with an inductor for a current source. I thought it was ancient at the time. 🙂
Seriously, this is 1930's technology. No one is claiming originality, chill. 🙂
When someone starts a sentence with "Not to take anything away from Mike" I just smile.

well , from Mighty Moi , nobody can take unnecessary stubborn use of LED string , in almost everything

Mike, I don't think it makes a difference. It works.
I wish I understood what I was seeing at that time.

thanks ZM
specs say 7V SE and 15V Balanced - not sure if this is peak or rms or average
I think it then could then be 14V (2 x times peak),
2.8 x 7 =19.6 for RMS conversion or
7 x pi =approx 21 using 7 as average for SE
So I need to find out what does mean in the spec sheet
Best

it usually means RMS
so 7V should be 19V8pp
I usually think in Vpp , able to convert to RMS , but anything in between is wooshy mushy for Moi 🙂
considering that MoFo is inductively loaded stage , means output voltage envelope is practically (almost) doubled PSU rail value ....... and being follower - you need input Vpp pretty much in same range as possible output swing
me likee all that copper/iron 🙂
