well ...... for J-Babelfishing Aleph 2 , we don't need brain , Papa already did everything ...... and all we need is just to take what's important from recipe :

- rails
-number of outputs
-Iq
-important value of Aleph CCS gain

so everything refers to this :

(now I'm going to kill some pancakes and to play with calculator and Eagle schm editor ; will post results when done)

BABELFISH J AS ALEPH 2

here it is , finally ;

look at attached schm , I believe I edited everything ;

note - input JFets doubled , doubled current through them (LTP) , BD140 cascodes instead of eeenyweeeny BC critters

few resistors marked as 1W - you can easily buy metal oxide ones , tiny as regular 600mW metal-films ; up them smidge above pcb

for more necessary info about general approach (how to connect Daughter boards , recipe for eternal life and no need for Viagra ....) read these posts:

#21 (important Snake Oil notes)

#80 (how to actually do it ; imagine 2 daughter boards per side , paralleled)

Greedy Boy Coasttocoast asked for something with 38Vac rails ........ that would be aroundish 47-48Vdc

same applicable

Boyz - you're nutz ........ who need that sort of power ?

:clown:

It’s in my nature. Just finishing up a year long project modifying my 1969 MB230 to install a 500 HP Chevy LS engine. New firewall, new transmission tunnel, rack and pinion steering, shaved everything under the hood and painted. All my work.

You are really a multi-talented human being with 30 hours in every day:D

Hi ZM,

in preparation ... I read the whole thread and copy me some parts from here in a doc for my build but now I have some questions ..

So, i didn't understand what the LEDs do, you wrote here (have read the Aleph CCs mod PDF but my English is not so good ...) :-(
"LED string thingy is fed with anything between 3-5mA ; it can be resistor or MMBF JFet , but I like 3mm greenies combined with JFet CCS sponginess "
=>found which one from Kingbright with 2.8V/20mA and 2.2V/2mA which should it be or misunderstood something?

And for Q4 (BD140-16) found I two different types: hfe 100 or 40@150mA/2V
=> which would be fit best?

Thanks for your hints!

Berlin is greeting ....Carsten

there is small constant current source made of MMBF JFet , pushing current through LEDs+1N4148 string ; theyre having pretty nice and constant voltage drop , used here to form voltage level/reference for cascodes ;
I like common/peasant/bauer diodes , green , 3mm ones ; they're having nice drop of 1V93 ..... with currents from 2 to 5mA

regarding BD - whichever you find in drawer , or those easier to buy/get

Sir, we have something else in common. My '90 Nissan 300zx has a 5.3 LSX.

All work by me as well. Still has the factory 5sp. No kit, just many late nights.

Nice job there! Mine is a lower budget job.

We should stay on topic. ZM would get upset :clown:

WalterW, thanks for the compliment! I would love to someday build a Sony project like yours someday if parts could be found.

Carsten.witt, awesome car!

Zen Mod, thanks for supporting our off topic interests!

I’ve spent a few hours putting an order together for “Babelfish J as Aleph2”.

I’m pretty good at hands on construction and following instructions, but understanding and picking electric components is a stretch for me.

So by scaling the pic of the board posted for measuring, research of similar BOM’s and pics posted on this thread here is what I have ordered today.

I welcome all comments to where I have gone astray.
