Moode Audio Player for Raspberry Pi

Hi Tim
I am new to Moode having used runeaudio previously and have to say I am very impressed.

The creation of the image IMHO is very straightforward using your recipe so thanks for that.

One very minor question, is there a way to show the track time going up rather than counting down?

Cheers
Nick

Hi @Mars67.

You must use 2017-09-07 Stretch Lite as specified in the Build Recipe.

Hi Tim.
Thanks for the response. I should have been more specific in my post. I meant if I could use the RPI 3b for the linux machine part of the recipe ie steps 1 to 3. I started following the recipe by downloading the stretch lite image.

If I understand correctly one does not write the image to the usb drive but copy it normally. I did this and tried to print the print the partition data but right off the bat ran into trouble with the fdisk -l -o command. The -o option is not recognised by the fdisk command on raspbian. Or so I adduced in my limited knowledge. (Having researched this further it is clear that I am not understanding what you are instructing here due to my limited knowledge of linux). Thus I spent the best part of the morning trying to get an updated linux machine running.

Only later did I see you advise that one can write the stretch image to a sdcard and then continue partially from step 3 by downloading the moode application sources and configs. I completed all the steps to step 9 in this manner but then after the reboot it is clear that it is booting but it seems to stop booting leaving a blank screen with the system unresponsive. I tried rebooting with the same effect. I will look to see if I can find the problem tomorrow.

Seeing that the build recipe and sources are publically available, I decided to give it a go this morning. It was straightforward but tedious to follow the recipe and generate a working version of beta6. But having tried it, I can see that this would be tough sledding for people without some Linux experience. The recipe could probably be turned into one or more shell scripts to make this a bit easier. I agree that we should respect the requirements of the GPL but it does seem unfortunate that it makes the distribution of pre-built images so difficult.

On a more positive note, I do a lot of headphone listening and look forward to trying the new DSP additions.

Thx Tim. I got 4.0Beta6 running on an old 'Pi 1 Model A' within 4 hours. The great recipe is working very good. Compiling the mpd is taking the most time. Only Step 2.2 (Insert the USB stick in a computer running Linux.) may need some skills for somebody, but most people own a Raspi already ;-). I think that Step 3 forward will work as a single script. Wlan-only-Pi-User should have a look at static IP in /etc/dhcpcd.conf.

Thank YOU

Hi,

Yes, copy the .img file to a USB stick and then plug into a Linux box.

What version of Raspbian?
Can you post the error message returned after trying to run fdisk -l -o ... cmd?

Hi,

It's just difficult for me personally because of time constraints... It takes a TON of work to maintain a distro properly!

The Recipe is really geared toward Linux System Integrators in the hopes of having one of the really nice distros out there Integrate moOde and provide those nice pre-made images. This also opens the door for other hardware platforms for example Sparky and Odroid :)

Build went great Tim the receipe was easy to follow. I did burn the stretch image to USB first, before I re-read that you said copy.

DLNA rebuild seemed to be a lot faster with my 2TB archive, maybe 2 thirds quicker.

I won't comment on my own thoughts about the move to the FOSS, but I'll be dropping you a $10 donnation next payday.
