Moode Audio Player for Raspberry Pi

Running LMS, Minimserver and Moode Audio together on same NAS

I have Moode 3.5 installed on my Pi/IQ Audio DAC+ combo connected to WHS 2011 running LMS and Minimserver. I run both because I also have an old Squeezebox Boom that I used as a bedroom system and also because I want to take advantage of Spotify streaming via the Pi Moode box.

Using LMS I can stream successfully via the LMS web interface and various Control Points. However, if I want to use access music via Minimserver (which I prefer as a server) and a local Control Point such as UPNP or Kinsky I can see the library and the Moode renderer but when I try to play it gets stuck and the playback flashes at 0.00 and no music plays.

Any ideas? I also have enabled Squeezelite in Moode Audio. Is it possible to have both LMS and Minimserver running on the same NAS and move between them?

Many thanks,

David

Where have you found 3.5, been waiting months with my Allo boss.. Patiently btw :)

A very good question.... I always thought it would be somewhere between 3 and 4 but YMMV.....:D

Patiently btw
Admirable !! all things come to those who.....serve tables?....deliver foodage?....er,... possibly..... pause ?....

Yes, we all eagerly await 3.5 and Tim has been teasing it for some time now...:)

and your bonus question...who had to
' give, give, give of the foodage, 'cos all life love - tlp, tlp - suffle of foodage, ha hah. ... Ho-oh, dear, hovery hovery. .... sortin you out here and trittly trittly how on the back of this fly who told me, huh. ... They all had a lovely turner: gnomes came, huckleberry fickle tickle my ...'

I am really impressed with the performance of the Pi Zero W with a JustBoom pHAT AMP. I am currently connected over a WiFi connection and I am doing the following:
- listening to a 24bit/96 kHz audio stream
- connected using puTTY on a SSH connection
- doing a apt-get update
- connected to the MoOde web server

The Zero is able to handle all of this without any dropouts on the audio stream. Looks like this combination is a winner.

Hi,

Would it be possible to add album shuffle option to 3.5? It is the thing I miss the most.
something like https://github.com/f0rki/mpd-album-shuffle
Would probably be better if it works like ashuffle and pick and album from the repository in random and add it to the playlist and remove it when done and load another.

The current shuffle modes are not great for classical music or if you want to hear the albums in the order the musician dictates. Obvious examples are "the wall". You get the whole introduction "when we grew up..." and the song changes just before "we don't need no education"

Hope this is clear
Regards,
Moshe
I guess that its a "no"?

Hi,

Its not necessary to set ALSA volume. The Hifiberry clipping issue referred to in the link is old and was fixed long time ago.

Hi Tim, I am getting clipping with the Audiophonics ES9023 DAC, which I believe is using the Hifiberry DAC driver under the hood. It is only on one side, and only when using Moode. Enabling the software volume and reducing the volume helps, to a point, but it doesn't get rid of it entirely.

Hi,

Symptom suggests something external to Moode software.

Post output from cmds below and I'll take a look.

- aplay -l
- amixer

Sure thing, here you go:

Code:
pi@moode:~ $ aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: sndrpihifiberry [snd_rpi_hifiberry_dac], device 0: HifiBerry DAC HiFi pcm5102a-hifi-0 []
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

amixer's output is blank, and alsamixer says "This sound device does not have any controls."

The reason I think it's Moode related, or at least library/driver/image related is that it works fine in Rune with software volume disabled. There is no hardware volume on this card.

Hi, how do I update my Moode ?

see below for what I'm on at the moment.

Ive also had issues where it just changes the radio channel by itself or even to a tune from my NAS that was in the playback list.
only does this occasionaly.
will an update take care of that?

Hi,

If MPD can't connect to an Internet stream (radio station) for any reason it tries the next item in the Playlist.

2.7 --> 3.1. requires new image. I'm planning to release Moode 3.5 on Friday so you might want to hold off till then :)

Thanks Tim, I take it a new image means all my settings etc will need to be redone? i.e other radio stations to add and finding the nas etc
