The food thread

Image update on the saffron.

On the left is the selected Iran grade, clearly visible it's mostly stigma parts of the pistil, next to no yellow/orange fiber.

Surface Pro here I come.

This late afternoon I had a talk with the guy that builds a corporate website for me.
He had a fully-loaded Surface Pro, gave me a demo of how it easy it is to connect/disconnect the add-ons.

Very nice, looks like my days of cursing ipad autocorrect are over.
(Fyi, which auto-switches itself back to the auto-setting every time I take it across the border. That thing has hammer-time coming)

I didn't think I would use mine much but now I find it's invaluable. I do my reports while in the field and I use my phone to tether for internet access on the road. The phone is just too small for my stubby fingers. Can't live without my iPad now. Best electronic thingy thing I ever bought, errr, had given to me. 🙂

I bought a 10" android tablet. I hardly ever use it: annoying to type (even surf) on, wifi sucks the battery down in ~5hrs, mainly useful for reading books or pdf's with wifi off.

I know several people with surface pro's and they love them. The only downside is a rather loud fan, apparently, but they have plenty of grunt and some even do cad on them (connected to two large monitors).

Changing the subject, I came across an article that may explain why Cal is such a foodie 😉

I have a little Android tablet and quite like it, except for autocorrect. The auto complete is quite good though, and otherwise I use it to check emails, light browsing, etc. My only complaint is it has a lousy camera, so if I am traveling I have to choose between a lousy picture I can share right away, or a decent photo on my DSLR that has to wait until I get home and can upload photos to my computer.

My wife had an iPhone and it had a pretty good camera, but not as good as my Nikon and a bag of lenses.
