I am glad to help! I use these power supply units for almost 2 years, I have never been let down, reliable, power up to 1000 - 1200 watts
Why not use clearance between primary and secondary power parts?
230V input is right next to output spade connectors, this is kind of scarry
Those Square wave don't look nice, I've seen others get fully straight square waves and they said the amp sound nice
at 50Khz?
I actually think the FX8 is better.

Thanks, I'm actually waiting for your suggestion. Any comparison with AX11?
my recommendation too!

Thank you sir. Have you compared this to other Apex amps?
some time ago APEX mentioned that one of his best sounding amplifiers was A14,(a version with opamp at input).iIt was built by a member and he declared very good impressions indeed.
Yes, I saw that while skimming through the thread. I think it was actually still4given. I was a bit unsure upon seeing the OP amp on the input side however. Now still4give prefers the FX8.
i did some comparison my for me best sounding amp VSSA vs APEX A14... I think is under resolution of my camera to find some differences .... both ares great sounding amps, and also my favorites amps

Apex Audio actually said the FX8 was his favorite "simple" amp and the A40 was his favorite amp overall used with P30 preamp.

Yes FX8 is my favorite simple small amp, and if you compare complexity vs sound quality it is beter than A40.
I like simple amps there is A9, AX9, FX9, AX10, AX11...
I have built the FX8 and FX8 Bimo Mod, and the FH9 variant of the FX8 (vertical hex FET) and can attest they all sound very good. The FX8 Bimo Mod with super transistors choices and nice layout by Prasi is probably the best of the FX8 series.
This is a fairly simple hex FET amp that is currently on of my favorites - it has a very low noise current-drive front end. With the 53v SMPS and CRC output filters, I am getting 0.1mV ripple at the amp output with the audio inputs grounded. A very quiet amp. I like it so much, I actually am making a case for it.

everything works fine in this version, why make things difficult? 🙂

Thanks, I'll take a look at the fx8 then.
you can share your PCB? I like it 🙂
Are there gerber files for the p30? I searched and searched but no luck. I was hoping to combine that with the fx8 Bimo variant.Apex Audio actually said the FX8 was his favorite "simple" amp and the A40 was his favorite amp overall used with P30 preamp.
Please forgive my newbie questions!!! 🙂🙂

Post 4474 has a schematic and probably follow from there you might find a PCB as Vargasmongo was working it.

This will be very interesting. A well designed SMPS is what we need. Many working power amplifiers in our collection waiting for power supplies.
Can I suggest we start a new thread outside of APEX Audio?
I am SUPER interested in SMPS for Amps and am willing to contribute.

You might have to start one in Class D forum. If anyone is interested, there is a thread there on a $20 450w 53v dual rail SMPS that is very clean. These are still available on eBay. I am using one on my amp now and it works very well: with a CRC filter I am getting 1mV ripple.
