US will of course have them too, EU just updated their website during the weekend and will also be a little faster shipping as they don't need to cross the atlantic first....
I'm working on the manual right now, will be up in a day or two.
Soren how much vref capacitance on the 1121? Looks like 470uf or 1000uf? Any provision to add more if desired?

600 uF on each of the four vref rails. No easy way to add more. Considering doing a -01 version with more, using larger expensive single source capacitors....
I think I got it... Part of the confusion is that there are two +3.3V headers: one in J3 (i.e. the big 2x13), and also one in J2 (1x10). (I'm guessing those are probably paralleled at the board level?)
Either way, glt's blog shows using the J2 +3.3V header for powering TOSLINK, and the J3 +3.3V header for one leg of the volume control potentiometer. But I assume you could swap which +3.3V you use for volume pot or toslink power.
So what I'm thinking is this: neither +3.3V header gets paralleled. (It would probably damage one or both boards to parallel any of power headers, right?)
From the "top" board, I'll use one +3.3V to power toslink (probably from J2 as suggested by glt's blog).
And also on the "top" board, I'll use the other +3.3V (J3) to go to one leg of the volume pot. The other two legs of the volume pot will go to VOLUME_POT and GND headers in J3; those two headers will be paralleled to the "bottom" board.
Bottom board's +3.3V (and all power headers, for that matter) are left open.
Thanks again, obviously I'm in need of some hand-holding. 😱
Correct on everything.
Indeed, both +3.3V pins are wired to the same source (3.3V LDO). You don't want to tie each on-board +3.3V LDO together which is what paralleling those pins would do. I don't know if doing this would damage the boards or not, but its not good when you are already paralleling the main power inputs, sure to have some looping currents somewhere.
dam1121,
The manual and dam1121 balanced use example schematics is now up at http://www.soekris.dk/dam1121.html. I would like to point out that the dam1121 is really designed for integration in audio devices and is NOT for beginners, and I will NOT answer question where information is already provided in the manual, or is obvious to engineers....
But if somebody want to design a baseboard, I will provide support as needed....
Shipping will start in a few days, just need to finish up firmware and testing and get some boards ready for shipping. We have limited quantities for now, so if we run low, priority will be given to company orders. But more boards are in the pipeline....

Seems like a good manual!
Thanks, I'm actually doing the manuals myself now....
How about creating an own thread for the OEM version?

I tried with another C1+, same result. Then I tried another software called max2play as recommended by Han (a member in here), same result, it can play PCM only but can't play DSD2.8 or 5.6
Yesterday I tried with a Raspberry Pi2 I2S + picoreplayer. The LED shows signal locked but no music, serial shows L176 for DSD2.8. I also tried reloading the firmware from 1.06 >> 1.05 >> 0.99 >> 1.06 but with no success.

Kenneth, did you try maximizing the volume when playing DSD? For me, in situations like yours, (RPi 2, PiCore or Archphile), I can hear noise and faint music. I suspect driver incompatibility between Linux and DAM.
Can't be sure, of course. I'm trying to find time to run Botic on BBB with DAM to see if I'd have more luck.
BTW, I customized to PiCore to run Roon, but still no luck.

Hello, Soren,
Big thanks. On the page 7 of manual, you still writes DAM1021. Other than that, the manual is perfectly done.
And good to have a new thread to follow. (Especailly considering that I am 500 pages or so behind others 😉).

For DSD64/128 playback on PCEngines APU2C4/Ubuntu with squeezelite I had to put -a 32 -rate 384000 in etc/defaults in the audio device config line.
Have not test -a 32 with Odroid C2 or Rpi 3.
RPi2 may not do more than 192K (DSD64).
I'm having the same problem with noise and fain music in background. Tried many different options and no luck. Running latest 1.06 firmware. I know that some people succeeded with this setup but I have no idea how... 192/24 are perfectly fine but dsd its a problem. I hope this is nothing wrong with the DAM...

I not setup DSD to PCM (-e dsd option), it works by showing PCM 176k

Can you play a WAV file with aplay with 192/384Khz sampling rate? You may need to stop squeezelite process.

There's nothing wrong with your DAC - at least this symptom is not definitive... I mentioned before i can't make it work with RPi/I2S, however I play DSD64 perfectly well from a XMOS/USB source (via normundss input selector board).
Somewhat related to that is the amazing speed with which DAM switches between sources: I grouped the USB and the RPi sources (with Roon) at a bitrate they both support and switching between the sources a) I can't tell which is which; b) it happens instantaneously. So fast I thought something is wrong and pulled the USB cable out so I can be sure those are different sources indeed.
Fantastic DAC Soeren! Sadly, my UA20400A machine is going on eBay.
.01 are in stock on the EU site, will they be up on the US site soon, or should I order from the EU site? I'm anxious 🙂

soren if external clock to be used with the dam1121 what should be the clock frequency in MHz.
Can we use other clocks apart from the silabs clocks?
