I have been trying to have better sound by parallel caps at output. I firstly had a 100uf motor run to parallel with the 10,000uf and found the mids were opening up to a point. The piano and guitar sounded lush and clear. I therefore did a little bit more by putting another 10uf Auricup to see, but the sound didn't go the way as I expected them to. It sounded a bit too relax and dark to my ears. What I'd like to do is to try making the whole sound spectrum opening up to the level that I could compare it with all my tube amps. I then moved on to do some more and paralleled my only 40uf motor run on hand to the last stage of the psu. Oh....my God...it sounded so nice and with everything up to a really high level and in fact I was surprised that this mod did wonder.
I don't know what to say the best of it, but I'm comparing this with my other amps at the moment. Will report.
Big thanks to Mike and I certainly would try the bulb later.

Great, another happy usage on motor run cap. What is the brand that you use? Cant wait to test it too.

Mine are all GE but I don't think that matter. You should go for the motor run, not motor start.
Well done with the motor run caps.
I ask myself whether we should not invest more in the power supplies for these SE topologies.
Papa uses very basic power supplies also for the SE amps but in combination with CCS. Thus apparently the most quiet amp still is the F2.
With a choke load the ripple of the supply gets problematic. Thus currently i use a CLCLC with 3mV ripple at 3.3 amps. Has any of you good results with a source follower filter in the supply, with acceptable voltage loss?

Keeep it simple!!! 🙂 The best is simple!!!😎 But not toooo simple!!!
well , you can't say that I didn't told you about motor run caps ......

Motor run is shi...t compared to obbligato film in oil! I have used 70uF parallel whit 10mF and it was absolutely stunning!

I am also playing whit thoughts to use the 2sk180 but how much power do you get out of the lamp circuit? If I could get 20W out of one VFET I would never look for anything else!😀

As of Micheal, I have 6 Watts with 193.
If you want more power, I thought you could try pse, as I know one of the member did tried it with good result with 25 Watts.

Look at Mr Michael Rothacher V-Fetron amp projects:
20 watts with 2SJ28 Sony
75 watts with 2SK180 Tokin

Schade feedback hockey puck BAF 2015 by Mr Pass are 50 watts single-ended
hulk amp if you need " one transistor clap "
Greetings 🙂

Whats pse?😀
parallel single ended
OK thanks! But two in parallel needs to be driven whit very very low impedance!!! So will need a buffer like sk170/j74! Ok...Maybe I will try!

You see it's not that easy to get SE 20 watts or +
exception the one and only 2SK77B v-fet true single- ended 50 watts horse made by Mr Pass.
Back to mother earth we can build from fantastic Jama schematics
