Hi, happy new year!
Any chance to list track number and total tracks (within the album) in playback mode?

Hi,
I'm using MoOde 2.4 on a Pi2. I 've got an issue with the DLNA server wich doesn't recognize AIFF files on my SDCARD. Is it an issue of miniDLNA ?
Moreover, I've tweaked a SatelliteCCRMA with Squeezelite and LMS, to know if a real time management of the player is an improvement or not. It sounds good, but not really stable... so I go back to MoOde. Is there anybody who tried something like this on MoOde ? with nice or with CPUSchedulingPolicy=fifo
CPUSchedulingPriority=99 commands ?
Is it useful to do an apt-get upgrade or dist-upgrade ?
Finally, any tips to update MoOde without doing a fresh install ?
regards
Hi,
In-place updating not part of Moode yet, but will be at some point. A lot of users install various packages on Moode distro without issue, but anything that changes the core servers (PHP, NGINX, MPD, SQLite, etc), config files, ALSA and various OS settings that Moode uses will cause breakage. A full distro apt-upgrade will cause massive breakage.
There used to b some "kernel tweeks" in the original code that could be selected but I never was able to detect that they made any difference so ended up removing them.
If u want the original tweeks to experiment with email tim at moodeaudio dot org 🙂

Hi Phil,
Nice to see Pi-Zero working 🙂 How is performance?
I looked at the pimoroni bash script and I don't think it's needed. Would u mind testing w/o the script?
- After network config using kbd & monitor, power up, bring up Moode UI in Browser and then config for i2s Hifiberry DAC, then reboot.
I'll add the pHAT DAC to 2.5+ final releasee 🙂

Tim
Hi Tim,
I can't really judge performance as I'm only streaming radio and playing .mp3s from the local SD card.
I'm seeing less than 30% CPU usage, no stutters in playback.
Reflashing, configuring for software volume control, and then setting volume to 100%, 0, and back to 100% solved the low volume problem I first experienced.
One feature I'd love to see in the future is podcast support.
Thanks for all your hard work.
Hey Tim, Thanks again for the email support on my WiFi issue. Now that I am using a better adapter the signal from the web radio is pretty solid. Anyways, I downloaded and flashed an SD card with version 2.5tr1. It took a while trying to get the software to image correctly. Version 2.4 worked using the standard Mac OS method, but for some reason using raspian's 'alternate install' method finally worked with 2.5tr1. After that I plugged everything back together, the pi 2 quickly booted and I was up and running in a few minutes. I configured my HiFiberry DAC + Pro and started listening to some 24/96 wavs, >260kbps AAC's, some web radio stations, all without any issues. It even seemed to resolve the popping issue I had recently when switching between local content and web radio. I was a little concerned with the performance because I am using a class 4 SD card (ebay kit). Even so, when scanning my library off a USB thumb drive my CPU only went up to about 18%, but has otherwise stayed around 1-2% during normal use. Ill report back with anything I find, but as a basic user I am very happy with the latest build. Thanks again Tim!

Hi Phil,
Great, no extra script needed 🙂
Just looking for feedback on feel/performance of 2.5+ UI on the Zero.
The only thing odd is that there should be no need to config or bump volume because on a fresh Moode image MPD is already set to "Software" and since the PCM5102A DAC's don't have onboard hardware volume controller there will be no ALSA volume. Even if DAC has hardware (ALSA) volume it would be automatically configured.
I have a 5102 i2s DAC on the shelf so I'll retest setup with a fresh image and see if there is bug in auto-volume config.
Can u create a radio station with url pointing to the podcasts?

Tim

Hi,
Glad to hear that 2.5+ is working well 🙂
Suggest using a class 10 Sandisk Ultra 8GB card. They are fast and reliable.
I wouldn't be too concerned about CPU utilization. A couple of my Pi-1B's run SoX resampling with CPU load at continuous 40-60% and never any audio glitches

Tim
How do you disable software playback volume?
MPD config screen
- set Volume control to "disabled"
- This will result in MPD outputting 100% volume level (0dB)
The "disabled" setting should only be used if u are using an external volume control.

Tim

I will upgrade it to a Sandisk Ultra Class 10 asap. I actually didn't realize it was a class 4 until I switched it to my HiFiBerry Pi from the one I tested it on originally. I figured it was worth mentioning it worked well even with an inferior card. I'm not running audio off it yet, but may in the future and I'm sure Ill see the performance there.
Question: is there any way to backup and transfer saved play-lists? Also if I transfer any music to the SD card, how do I handle that when upgrading the software? Won't it just get deleted along with everything else when the card gets re-imaged?

Hi,
- Saved Playlist files are stored in /var/lib/mpd/playlists
- Radio station pls files are stored in /var/lib/mpd/music/RADIO and are also accessible via the samba share named RADIO
Yes, music stored on SD card will get wiped and will need to be reloaded.

Thanks tim , last question for a while, does wireless need an internet connection?

Hi,
Internet connection only required for playing Radio stations.

hello, have you tried the 2.5test version on a raspy 1 or only on the Raspi 2?
Flashed it two times on my model 1 B+ (checksums correct), lots of warnings and it doesn't want to boot.
permission errors, Kernel panics too etc
I thought it was the SD, but tried another, same thing...
also reflashed my 2.4 image on the same sd, and that works perfectly...
sorry can't be more specific about the errors because not at home now.
I remember something like this:
And then it hangs there without booting.
It doesn't even start ethernet.
Will buy some new cards as these are pretty abused, just in case 🙂
Solved, it's working now on my 1 B+.
The issue was on my side... a funny one 😱 :
I downloaded the image, checked the sums and they were correct, then I extracted the zip but the small home partition was full(was working at the same with other BIG files), so it just wrote a partial corrupted img file, that I then dd'ed to the sd cards 😀
Now I'm going to try it and test the hotplugging etc
Thanks for it.
oh BTW I forgot about this:
since a few releases it shows the songs inside the albums in random order instead of following the cd position...
It's not sorting them.
Every, I mean EVERY album folder is like this.
This is a fresh install of the last 2.5 test code. Pretty sure it was like this in 2.4, and maybe 2.3 worked fine?
see the attachment
Don't know what's causing this.
The ID3 tags are set correctly. It's not ordering them by filename nor by tag. 😕

nevermind the sorting fixed itself after a reboot. (Can't edit/delete previous post anymore)
Hi,
Glad to hear its sorted 🙂

Hi Dan,
Likewise, happy new year!
You mean like 5/10 ? Maybe displaying it after the track time.

Just a brief update on TR2 🙂
A new caching Library loader with enhanced capability for large collections is done.
Once cached on the server, the Library loads very fast. A couple seconds for 20K tracks from USB HDD. Page refresh or reboot won't cause reload of Library, the cache will be used until it's manually cleared, then Library will reload (to get new or changed music for example) and new cache created. The cache creation only adds a small amount of overhead to Library load.
Enhanced large collection capability is courtesy of diyAudio user "anewnadir" 🙂

Great to hear. That "slow" library loading was one of the shortcomings when comparing to other audio solutions.
-- Another question about id3/vorbis tags handling...
As now the library tab is grouping albums by Artist or by Album Artist tag?
(forgot the exact tag field name, ALBUMARTIST maybe?)
It should group by album artist and use artist only if album artist is empty. Otherwise it would make a mess in the Various Artists albums.
If not, how could one change it to filter Album artists?
