Jack lives in Half Moon Bay, more than 1hr's drive from my place. To get there, at least one major bridge must be crossed, and the traffic can take hours, sometimes, to get back and forth. I used to do it EVERY DAY, but no more, I am just too old and 1/2 blind to even attempt it. I am now scrambling to find my way to and from the Weston at the SF airport, where the hi fi show is at this weekend.
Last night I was tracing the route that I took 50 years ago from Amsterdam to Hamburg, and beyond, with a little AH Sprite. Those were the days! 5000 mi in Europe in a month and 1/2. But that was then, now just getting to the store is a challenge, and across the bay is almost insurmountable. It takes courage to get old. '-)

Base 9?? Do you know what a number base is? Simply a way of writing numbers down. Nothing whatsoever to do with the numbers themselves. 3 is 3 whether I write it as 3 (decimal) or 3 (hexadecimal) or 11 (binary). Did I misunderstand your comment?
Maybe you could explain your concept of base be it "e", "phi" or "pi" it does not matter. I could write the fine structure constant in any base and relative to all the other constants it remains the same. It's you who are confused.
Oh yes, please make a clear exposition of what you mean, if you can. Speaking in ambiguities might seem profound but it does not get far, after all the way up and the way down are one in the same.
