Hi 🙂

Last evening i have good time at the bench and tests vfet batch.
I used electronic components automatic tester to see if i find some pairs.
This tool was programed and detect 2SK parts only not 2SJ.
Voici the table :

What your current ?
I don't think this small tester are perfect made for vfet´s Vgs procedure.

Ok for basic test´s : source drain resistance and diode characteristic
from Sony service manual , look at attached thumbnails.
I near future i try great " Frankentracer" and i am on way to complete
Locky_z usb tracer i need some windows pc to work this tool,
in everyday life i always work on apple computer.
Anyway i do with dear Papa councils and
that mean aluminum profiles must be drilled 🙂:wrench:
Kind regards

Does anyone have a source/pn for the PS transformers specified for the csx 1 or 2. I am having trouble finding twin 120V primaries with 12 or 24 secondaries. Avel Lindbergh will do custom if needed. I could ,of course use two transformers per channel in parallel but space is an issue.

The transformers he referenced are 400VA, which is a bit over the 300VA that is used in the schematic by NP. Those will work fine both for mono-block, and perhaps for a stereo amp as well.

I ordered a pair of 300VA transformers from Plitron awhile back, when I needed some other transformers, and needed to make the $300 minimum order they have. I am planning to make pretty much the PSU schematic as drawn in the article, although I may add a snubber, and delay circuit/speaker protector.

Why dual primaries - is this simply for potential 115/230V compatibility, or is there some other functional requirement/benefit?

In the meantime ... Quickie 2SK82 Head Amp

If I build Part 2, I will have some 2SK82s extra, in addition to service replacements, and they are eating a hole in my parts drawer.

So while waiting for Part 2, I decided to try something a bit different, a quick and very simple single-ended follower headphone amp. Mostly re-used bits I had lying around, with an industrial look to complement those TO-3 metal cans.

With grounded gate, Vgs is about 6v and Vds 12v, bias at about 200ma set by LM350 (had to be a TO-3 device) current sink for around 0.019% distortion (mainly 2nd harmonic) at a loud listening level on my 32 Ohm headphones. You can trace the wires in the underside photo for the "schematic".

Hey, it's fun, it works, and sounds OK to me. 😉
