SystemD LiteAmp

Hi ChocoHolic, Happy New Year to you and all others at this exciting forum. Just found forum today and red trough it.
Just wanted to ask for clarification, are KCS MB1 and KCS GB2 available and if not, are going to be available in future ?
I live in New Zealand but could specify delivery address in Croatia.
I think that this is fascinating design and it would be shame if it is not available any more to DIY-ers.

Thanks and Regards

Hi Blue,
too bad, you are too late.
However there seem to be many more DIYers who seem to be interested.
So I will think about how to make the LiteAmp less rare.
However I learned that the logistics for a group buy are highly time consuming
and counting orders and parts is definitely something which my brain is not
made for. In the mean time I am wondering how some small companies can make their living by selling sets in moderate volumes for really low prices.

Please note: The gain board with limiter is already fully published.

Hi Choc

Why not launch a kickstarter campaign?, maybe do a SMD revision? I think the goal can be reached.

Why not launch a kickstarter campaign?
You mean this?
https://www.kickstarter.com/
Well, it wasn't my intension to get money out of this project.
And I am not going to corrupt the original intension now by the backdoor.

Nevertheless I will keep kickstarter in mind for future projects.
Might be an option to refund at least some part of the personal R&D expenses. And for sure it will feel good in case many people are willing to support a project.

I think the goal can be reached.
Which goal needs to be reached at kickstarter?

The goal is how much money you state that you need to develop and start producing the product (sell kits, sell finished product in a case, or just make it open source). You make a presentation (video, slideshow, something like that) and a project plan. So that the backers (people that finance you're project) see how far are you in the design or production stage.

You should defiantly start a kickstarter project on this amp and also the 2kw one. Because you can get you're money back for you're design time and also promote Class D among many other people

Building one set isn't fair indication of price, I know, but selling price would need to be so high that sales numbers wouldn't be interesting. So how low can you get price to sell like 200 pair, not for cost but with margin? And then question post 72 should be clear.

Seems like Kickstarter is not accessable for people in Germany.
They are stating:
To launch a project, you must be within the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, or Ireland (full details) and your project must meet Kickstarter's rules.

Anyhow...
Savu, you mentioned the 2kW amp.
It is already fully disclosed.
Which additional services would you like to see covered?

Hello Choco,

I just wanted the project to be presented on kickstarter. You deserve the complete recognition 😛 and some money back for the design hours and parts cost 😛

Thanks @savu for clarifying.

@Choc
Thats odd there are projects from Germany.

Hi Chocoholic
Thanks for your reply. Quite sad that your boards are not available any more.
Interesting discussion about kick starter, I think that at same stage you mentioned that shipping was difficult from customs/declaration perspective. That should also need to be taken in account as added difficulty.
Anyway since boards are not available could I please ask for advice for alternatives, CDA-224 module was mentioned near the beginning of the tread would it be acceptable option?
What about T1 module from HIFImeDIY? They appear to be popular?
Can anyone else recommend good 60-100 w / 8ohm module or point me to relevant tread?

Thanks

Two stupid questions🙂 R114 diode with invisible ink marking, do I let cathode face red led d109 or the led part of NSL32 on its other side?
Then for NSL32 itself, two square legs I assume wires to led, the marked one being "-" cathode, however holespacing on pcb makes me doubt, NSL led square wires are further apart than two round wires on other side, the spacing of pcb holes would suggest turning around the NSL32, so I think I need help LOL

Yes, this is the right way. When placed this way, you you can follow the copper tracks and will find the cathode of the R114-diode electrically connected to the anode of the NSL-32.

The written Vactrol markings on the PCB are correct.
Marked pin of the NSL-32 has to be placed in the hole which is marked as -(K)
The pin distances are designed to allow also other (larger) Vactrol devices. So I had to chose a spacing, which looks strange for the NSL-32.
The published loop control parameters are optimized for the NSL-32.

SM😀
