MJL4281/4302 are fine to use

Hi Valery,

Does this amp require Sankens? Will it work well with MJL4281/4302?

thanks, Terry

Hi Terry,

I have checked the datasheets and ran a simulation - it will be fine to use MJL4281/4302. No problem in terms of SOA, may be slightly higher Cob, however it will be ok - no significant difference.
Even the pins are in the same order B-C-E, so no PCB change required.

If you decide to build - let me know, I will give you the latest PCB outline in the format you need.

Cheers,
Valery

Hi Carlos & Hugh

I had a go at building the design in post #1 a couple of weekends ago. Unfortunately I was a bit optimistic thinking I could do this on veroboard and the result was not so good...

When I get a bit more time I'll have a go at laying it out in Eagle and look at getting some boards made at a board house.

Hopefully somebody with the skill and equipment to etch boards at home will give this a go in the meantime!

Cheers

Christian

Hi Valery,

If you have Gerbers that would be best. If not, a printable foil pattern would work. I would like to give it a try.

Hi Christian,

I asked Juan to give the layout a try and he said he would when he had time. I know he is very busy.

Blessings, Terry

Terry, here are the Gerbers and just in case - final PDFs along with schematic and BOM.

Hi Valery,

That's great! I am waiting on some Gerbers from Jason and I will send of to have these made. I have to have excess boards made because of minimum order requirements. Do you mind if I sell the excess?

Also, if you make Gerbers for the Tube IPS you are designing I would like to have those too.

Thanks, Terry

Terry, no problem if you sell the excess boards.

Please check the Gerbers somehow - I normally use P-CAD ASCII format for ordering, so I'm sure P-CAD files are ok, however I never used Gerbers, so I'm just not sure they contain all necessary layers, etc. (though I exported all possible Gerber components).

Sure, I will share the Tube IPS layout - coming soon 😉

Cheers,
Valery
