First One - mosFET amplifier module

Ok, let's wait another few months days and see the next one. Anyway, if you have some time, please do the measurements in the same conditions http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/vend...e-mosfet-amplifier-module-10.html#post3896812 especially test at 11.8A continuous.

Have you thought about the custom version SMPS which I told you a while ago ?

Please guys do not buy any SMPS before we tested here!

This SMPS supporting units are just too expensive to play with the money, dissapointment at the end can be shocking.

We have an amp here with quite high idle current so not all SMPS are suitable for the task.

I can save you all a lot of problems and money to test the SMPS samples and make recommendations. Still there is a question of reliability on a long run, that for the moment I can confirm only for Hypex, not even one problematic Hypex SMPS until now.

My meaning of custom version was a lower power rating, either 1200W for two channels or ~600W one for each channel which will integrate and fit exactly into the existing chassis.

I have few tens of pcs SMPS2000R which can be configured for the required voltage plus stock of components for more than 200 pcs.

Cristi, about which SMPS per channel we are talking about? PCB size? It should be +/-63 V regulated, unregulated we do not need.

We are preparing First One ABX test with different SMPS-s and make report over the weekend.

As I already said:

Please guys do not buy any SMPS before we tested here! :yes:

So far my recommendation goes to:

SMPS2000R, Connex Electronics

SMPS1200A400, Hypex

In that order for audio performance. :up:

I've removed the last few pages of arguments. Please take any arguments about SMPS design/suitability off line or to a thread of it's own.

I hope all those participating realise that it does nothing for your credibility.

Quistion if going Connex route: Two SMPS2000R with little difference were tested and one of them were the best. How to order this particular version when webshop only show one model SMPS2000R.

Hi LC, when approximately the C3 mono chassis will show?

Is the bias current independent or somehow function of the power supply voltage being used? I.e. is there any idle power saving to expect from lower voltages than the 63v?

Hi BYRTT

Cristi from Connex knows exactly which is SMPS2000R version B we tested here. It's +/-63 V model and it has only Rubycon elcos installed.

I would like to order just 2 am boards, chasis is not suitable for my project. My mind is by integrated amp ... 4 inputs volume and amp in one chasis. I will wait for SMPS battle finish and then order best power supply.

This chassis is ideal to make integrated amplifier, it was designed in this way for future project. Just look the chassis pictures and you'll noticed empty space at upper half of a back plate, there's a space for input connectors.

Thanks LC, at present don't need the power therefor not in GB (you know have VSSA) but of course power need can change

suddenly, was just concerned for GB members how to order the special version not on webshop, now when it won't be shipped together with FO amps.

Some other: The clutter regarding PSU for FO that now has been cleaned from thread do not chase me away from buying FO amps or interest for thread. I know we are different as persons and respect for that, personally as getting thru life i prefer to see it as is and not hiding things unless very special case.

Some more other: Imagine you still have thoughts about amp setup as good and cost effective as possible. What about sending PSU supplyers two FO PCB's and let them tune in own lab for best performance/cost. And then test by yourself which will move most Mountains. I know FO modules start shipping now, but still worth waiting for seen with performance/cost eyes.
