Slewmaster - CFA vs. VFA "Rumble"

OS can you post spooky's LT spice file? When pcb layout files will be availiable for spooky 1.2 and nad 1.3 ? will they be the final versions?? I am a bit late with my progress because i have run out of parts for cfa-x ips and i am waiting for final versions of nad and spooky to be ready to order all the parts...

:nod::lickface::lickface:

It is ready for the "embarrassment phase" .... show me my errors.
(below 1/2).
Updated the board , the schema , and a BOM.

-"X" will also allow to run the servo inverting (like the 1.2) .... cut the
thin trace above C10 , R27 to "X" , jumper the other X's. Default is
non-inverting fed to current FB.

-labeled "ccs pos/neg adj." , (R5/10)these could be jumpered and omitted ...
(R6/9) - can be a cheap 680R ... if you can't afford 2-2us$ trimmers. 😱
Servo actually makes the trimmers redundant , but you might want to
"tweak" the VAS current with them (or balance a "sloppy" input pair).

-input cap is 3.5mm wima / 5/7.5/or 10mm LS.

-Seen thimios's v1.2 - every spacing and layout consideration has
been "anally" addressed. 😀

Gonad 😎😎 is by far the best "simplicity to performance" amp I've
run across. Only the "spook" can beat it (not by much).

Hm, if I use a pair of the NAD input stages and a pair of the five pair output stages together can I safely say I have a pair of Monster GoNADs? Must be a manly man thing... Or me just being silly 😀.

That is ...😎😎😎
What would you do with 5 pair ? 😱
I have no harem ??

All the hardcore tech needs a humorous outlet ... 🙂
This was "calling" for a joke !

But, when you listen to the "party music" on this setup , you better
have at least 1 pair ...:drink:

Ahhh , the spooky ....

I avoided this topology for the longest time.

It is hard to layout , uses more parts .... but some really like it.

As a simulation , it exceeds the "blameless" .... it exceeds ALL !!
(especially at 200V p-p)
Tomorrow , I think all is perfect ....
You will be able to print out my masterpieces.

I'll even include BOM's !

NAD-gonad CFA is now the "GNOME" (V1.3).

Not to offend the "gnomes" ... 😀

Here it is ... print away - very "pretty" layout !

That's the plan. I'd like to basically do the same as I did for the OPS and take advantage of the two sided process to eliminate jumpers for any boards done at a board house. Same goes for Spooky. Those are the two that have piqued my interest the most.

I'm with you! I would prefer a double sided PCB over single sided with jumpers.

In my case I was also toying with the idea of trading the Euro connectors for right angle headers and sockets. Those bugger are cheap, pretty stout and would have no problem with the current and voltages involved. You end up with a package that easily slips into a chassis. I'd further modify the IPS boards to accept both a rca phono (unbalanced) and XLR (balanced) inputs directly attached to the PCB without the intervening wire and connector.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

If necessary you could always add a right angle bracket by Keystone (or others) to further stiffen the package.

Middle road ...

Modest we are not! 😀

Some have lower PPM under ideal conditions. At 14 devices , it will
beat the pant's off of anything (short of below).
Syn08's PGP - PGP
is the PPM "winner" ... at the cost of 32+ devices, it has .5ppm.
14 devices with 5ppm is a better project. 32 is scary to most hobbyists. 🙁
I think when this excellent engineer was a member - only a couple builds
were attempted. For every PGP , 200 "DX" amps were built ! 😱

(below) is the "middle road" ... with the below layout and good matching ,
it can be built cheaply , error free , and is easy to support.
"Cheap PPM" ! 😀
