Finally time for a small amp upgrade.

Last couple of days I've been upgrading the power supply in my 1619-809 A2SET amp shown in my avatar. The orginal power xfmer was too small in the VA department but it was all I had from on-hand parts at the time I built it. In particular the 6.3 volt winding was overloaded considerably with the DC supply load for the pair of 809's. I just managed to shoehorn another filament xfmer under the chassis which takes about 50 watts off the power xfmer load. I used to only have an hour before I had to shut it down. Now it has been tested out to 3-1/2 hours play time without overheating worry. As a bonus I can now put 811A bottles in there as well. They sound quite similar, also very good but are only being idled in this circuit.

This amp has all the magic DHT SET tone some of us have heard and know is to die for. Finally I'll be able to really enjoy it. :cloud9:

I have an eBay CS8416+CS4398 DAC Kit & JHL Amp Clone kit running on the desk in front of me, playing Audiophile best of Jazz while tapping my foot and bobbing my head in time. $30 worth of audio gear shouldn't sound this good 🙂

I really shouldn't be reaching over live transformers to type on the keyboard. ...hmm.

I have an old inkjet canon printer. The mechanism is okay but the printing head is out of order.

Perhaps buying a new cartridge will fix it. But since the cost of cartridge is so high it's better to buy a laser printer in my situation and for which I'm saving money.

The printer is in front of me. And I am ready with my tools to open it.

Now my questions:
1. What parts can I salvage from the old printer?

At present I can only think about the motors to make a DIY PCB driller tool.
And the PSU can be used for another small amplifier, I guess.

Any more ideas, please?
Thank you.
