PeeCeeBee

I finally finished my PeeCeeBee layout revisions (almost exactly 5 months after the first layout). This will make the 4th version of VSSA for me, including one built close to Shaan's original schematic, one close to Version 1.4 of the original design, and the VSSA modules from LC's first Group Buy.

Conventional through-hole parts only, no exotic or unobtainable parts, and lots of room to experiment, and have fun... :D

Dear PMI,
Please publish early a numbered schematic, optional parts included, and an LT spice .asc file with the same numbers and a BOM tallying with the schematic. This is missing in this thread. My .asc file is included which is exactly same as shaan's which I copied. I am also including the draft BOM I made. These can be corrected/modified to include the optional parts etc. with all Voltage ratings, Power ratings etc.

Hi all...
Hi bang Yassud, do you build this PeeCeeBee yet?
Jangan2 sudah buat VSSA :D

Pete, you should open new group buy thread.
Or we must wait what Shaan opinion about this :)
but I guess it is not good idea to make a group buy here,
just post the link here & in your signature too :)

Regards

I'm sure PMI didn't intend for the thread to become the home of a group buy.

Looks to me like everyone interested in his design has helped themselves to his hospitality instead. I do think that for the moment the group buy requests and activity are best served being hosted in their own thread, but such a buy has only been alluded to at this point.

Hi John, not one that I made.
but I am always following the progress of this forum.
LC for VSSA forum I was not interested anymore.

Oh... not one yet.
You should build one, even only one (mono) you will be surprise with the magic sound. I have some people here say that my amp sound nicer when they hear it again & again.

He ask: John do you replace the amp with the new one?

I say: No it is the same amp & it is only about 50w :)

He say: Why the sound better than before...

I thought he never hear magic amp like this before that why you must try it, you can try my layout that so simple. Another option just see at page #1.

Regards

PeeCeeBee sharing forum has ended up being a trade forum.
Owners not to sell thread here if you are not shy.

No, it's just that some readers do not have skills or possibilities to etch their own boards. For instance, I am one of those readers. I do not have workshop, garage or any suitable place to do such work so it is necessary for me to buy pcbs. Also, some people that have workshop were not able to etch good boards, for a number of reasons (like Terry). But it is a good idea to open another thread in Group Buys forum, with "PeeCeeBee" in title (to avoid confusion with Lazy Cat's VSSA group buy threads).

As far as I know Pete also does not have place to etch his own boards so he is using services of professional company to get his pcb (and a few more for the rest of us):)

Hi Ivan,
yes totally agree :)
"PeeCeeBee" at the group buy seem a good idea
Now let's go to group buy thread,...
where is Pete?
there are some people waiting
I think I'm in at the group buy too

Regards

@John Bali: Agreed. Good point about not turning this into a Group Buy thread, that was not the intent. I did not actually bring that up.

So, no more of that here from me.

There was never a group buy for the last board. I ordered a second small batch of those because a few people who were helping me asked if they could get a set of boards in pm's. Others were given a link to Lazy Cat's thread. I simply posted the PDFs and test results.

I did supply some transistors and other parts, to people building versions of PeeCeeBee/VSSA when I realized that a couple people paid three different shipping charges (!) for parts that cost me one or two dollars. To the best of my knowledge, most of the parts sourcing issues were kept out of this thread.

I posted the pics for the new board, because most of the information on the circuit is here, and most of the suggestions for changes to the layout came from people who read this thread. I assume they would want the see the result. The layout in PDF form will also be posted, just like the last one, after I test the boards. The single-layer PDF of the power supply has also been kept out of here.

@gannaji: I have your email, and I look forward to your comments. I will send you what I have, as soon as I do some more testing. Not much point until then. Regardless of component changes I may make, note that you can build the board from the original schematic posted by Shaan, and most of my testing was done with the layout already posted above.

@ivanlukic: If I have time, I will open another thread in a week or two, but at the moment I am not sure I have the time for much more than what I have already promised to do. As you know I am a bit behind on what I have promised in another thread.

@Idefixes: You are correct. In general, I just add a few boards to what I order for myself and a couple personal friends.

I apologise for any OT posts, whether by me or by others. Peace.

Sorry if I helped take it off topic. I have mentioned many times that I am waiting for Pete to finish his newest layout. I just wanted him to know I was still interested. I can't wait for Jason's boards to get here so I can build his version. I will be posting pics and so once I get started.

Blessings, Terry

... not all nations have the same economic level.
Correct, and at least in this thread, we have done the best we could to account for that. One of the positive features of Shaan's original schematic is that it avoids unique and expensive parts, and it still sounds wonderful. The version I have been listening to almost every day since May was built essentially to that spec.

The PDFs of the single-layer versions have been posted so anyone can etch the board if they wish, and so will my latest version, as soon as I test. Some of the transistors which are expensive to ship or otherwise hard to get have been made available by me as well as by other people to anyone who has asked.

Speaking for myself, it is unfortunately not always clear when parts have outrageous shipping charges. Even in the US for example, if a part is marked "UK stock" it can mean an automatic fee added to the order... :(

Some Build Information

This is some information I compiled to assist a fellow member construct the TO-3 version of the PeeCeeBee. I thought it might benefit someone who needed a little added guidance with this specific project. Should someone find an error, please let me know so I can correct it.
