Here is a simulation of the Zen Pot with Rs=0R47, and the top-cap connected to the source pin of the top FET. Rswip2 is the wiper position of the Zen Pot which is across the bottom source resistor. As you can see, the distortion levels go above 1% with Rswip2>0.35.
(non)degeneration , while having Zen Amount pot on lower one
then put pot on front plate , and write SIT 1 wannabe

so , conclusion - wiper closer to source - higher distortion , wiper further from source - lower distortion
btw. we see it again - sim is useful , but numbers are way of

btw - if one is keen to have Zen Amount pot , it's better to have it in form of switch(ing attenuator)
resistor net is more than easy to calculate ,even in case of congesting it in some central area of setting
that way symmetry between channels is easier to mantain
say that 2-section/12-position Lorlin is good for 2 channels in same case
or whatever combination

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Backwards. The wiper increases from top to bottom, so wiper=0 is wiper connected to source.

good
that's telling us that increase in S , so increase in OLG , so increase in NFB is more important/effective than increase of amount of local degeneration
Yeah, that would work. What about a rotary switch connecting an array of trimmer pots? That way you could a have a number of "distortion profiles" corresponding to how the pots are adjusted.
Another idea is a 10 turn pot with this kind of adjusting knob, which allows settings to be repeatably "dialed-in".

If turning the wiper down adds distortion, no zen pot seems to be needed.
Or is that only when Jfet matching is good.
Or is that only when Jfet matching is good.
Apparently the purpose of the Zen Pot is to add the preferred amount of distortion.

My congrats too. Are we there yet? But of course we are close c/o the great work of lhquam, Zen Mod, and buzzforb.congrats on 2K-th post !

....
Another idea i......
let's be serious

next step would be relay matrix plus microproc , display showing : Marshall tone , Carver tone , Mesa Boogie tone , ML tone , Dynaco tone , Halcro tone , AR tone , Carry tone , McIntosh tone .........

lhquam: maybe try another set of loudspeakers; buzzforb has this luxury.let's be serious
next step would be relay matrix plus microproc , display showing : Marshall tone , Carver tone , Mesa Boogie tone , ML tone , Dynaco tone , Halcro tone , AR tone , Carry tone , McIntosh tone .......ZM tone..lhquam tone ..buzzforb tone... most probably the tone is specific and sensistive to the loudspeaker in use.
