I signed up on monday - no email yet
's OK guys, I'll make a dedicated thread here for organization, tonight when I get home & refine the BoM.
You aussies however - would you like a different pot taper (not a fan of this idea), shorter shaft, or try to order them in from RS Europe?
I'd rather order from Europe and have the 'right' part, but I'll go with the consensus. :)

Edit: Actually I have revised my opinion - I'd like to go with the Bourns model with star shaft, and obviously a different knob. This means no importing from Europe, we have the correct audio taper, and it will fit without hassles.
Edit edit: we can use teh 450-BA160 knob - identical to original but will fit the spline shaft of the Bourns pot.

I agree with you - I would rather have the "right" part, even if it's probably not going to make much of a difference.

Hey Ollie/ BlueFusion

I can see that the Ausi group buy is upgrading the PCB, but I have ordered direct from Ollie (X2). Is there a chance it will not be too much trouble to upgrade mine too and add to the ausi group buy? (mine can be shipped to BlueFusion and he can forward it to me with the rest of the kit)

Really appreciate it!

Upgraded as in black/immersion gold? All the boards in this GB will be upgraded in that sense. And there will be etesting (don't want to risk a 500+ board order!)

And now for the bad news. PayPal have seen fit to not allow me to withdraw money from my paypal account! I don't have the funds in a bank account to cover it so we have to wait until paypal agree that I am who I say I am.

Now, this is good and bad. Bad in the sense I can't order the boards and good in the sense that we may have time to quickly prototype the new board revision.

In the mean time, the GB will stay open and payments can still be received. So keep em coming :D

I hadn't received an email either aaaand it looks like I'm not on the list. Is this 'cause Paypal freezed or did I screw up?

Edit: Ah hey... Looks like I made a typo when entering in your email so you probably never got it. I'll cancel the original payment and send in a new one.

If you're ordering from Mouser anyway, especially if there's going to be a proto PCB done, I would suggest the 15mm Alps pot (RK09712200MC). In my experience, the Alps pots have better channel balance tracking, and I also haven't tested the "push on depth" of the bourns star shaft and that knob. The knob could rub against the panel or be too far away and look bad.

I will be ordering the star knobs today (I already have the Bourns pots) and can check it out. But, in my experience, I think Alps does a better job. The RK097 is the pot in my $1600 Benchmark DAC1 Pre.

Rightio then - I'll update the BoM tomorrow, cheers :)
