Why not use 'Nice' tube like 6SN7...?
With me in Macedonia only these tubes ECC82, ECC83 (Made in Slovak Republic) can be procured through CONRAD.😉😕

High-End Preamplifier with Tube 12AX7 !!
Hello all!
Here is the schedule of preamplifier with Tube-12AX7 (ECC83), here and preamplifier-image, and here's a chart of the measured feature!
The idea was to produce "High-End" preamplifier with Tube/Valve ECC83 which will give the "Valve" sound, which will be enhanced second harmonic (this can be seen from the measured fotograhije-harmonics).😉🙂
The right to tell you sounds great, and you defined medium and volume, great picture and sound with depth!!!😱🙂

The figure B (see photos) shows the response of incoming sine wave of 1kHz with adjustable amplitude at the output of 0dB.
Second harmonic is -47dB (0.78%), and the third harmonic at -62dB (0.15%). Very good features for the right tube sound!

0dB is a ratio. The numerical value is 1. So setting an output to 0dB means setting it equal to something else. This is only useful if we know what that something else is. Please try to give an answer in one post, with no smilies!

I thought 3rd 5th and 7th harmonics are good for some realistic bite in the sound? I suspect this will sound way too syrupy with 2nd harmonics dominating.

Are we talking "high end" hi-fi or guitar amp? Do we really want "realistic bite" or "syrupy"? And by "high end" do we mean high quality (out=in) or expensive FX box?
What actually High-End means? At what point the Hi-Fi became High-End?

I have seen "ultra-high fidelity" used on a website. So superior to mere ordinary "high fidelity"! Presumably we will one day be able to buy super-hi or tera-hi? High end is now little more than a code word for expensive. Expensive may mean excellent, but it is just as likely to mean just expensive.
I can accept that speakers could be expensive, but CD player wich cost 10.000 Euro and it use 1 or 2 TDA1541?????? An push-pull amplifier with super matched output transistors for 20.000 Euro?
Buy the way there are amplifiers what cost 500.000 Euro.
