Lets leave aside the silly topic about the source. I don't like this tube but I have some nice NOS 12AU7's so I built this preamp. It sounds quite good. Don't know the reasons why this tubet sounds good in mu follower and awful in a simple grounded cathode configuration (so don't ask me).
BTW, schematic was recommended by Bruce Rozentblitz. Probably misspelled.
EDIT - Mine has a different power supply.
I agree,I have built this same preamp, sounds nice with the 12AU7,but I thought I would do some tube rolling, and played with the power supply a little bit, decided to try a 6SN7 using same capacitor and resistor values, with tube power supply, using DC on the heaters, and what can I say, beautiful music. Especially using speakers with Planar drivers. Simply marvelous!

So, In your opinion, the 6SN7 sounds better than the 12AU7....?
This has been my experience too...

I felt that in this particular topology, the 6SN7 does a better job,I haven't listened to other setups so I couldn't make a definitive statement, but Yes it does have a better sound in this arrangement.
I can accept that speakers could be expensive, but CD player wich cost 10.000 Euro and it use 1 or 2 TDA1541?????? An push-pull amplifier with super matched output transistors for 20.000 Euro?
Buy the way there are amplifiers what cost 500.000 Euro.

You're right!
Where is the sense of sound?!
Hmmmm.......
Confused. Thread Title says, HE amp with ECC82....
Now you're burbling on about ECC83, an Entirely Different Valve!
Another Even Nastier little 9 pinner IMHO!![]()
Hello!
In this post i was looking for Preamamplifier with ECC82 scheme (circuit) since no one offered jas we offered this to the High End preamplifier with Tube ECC83!
Cheers

If you are unable to show schematics (circuit) with 6SN7 or 12UX7!?
thanks

When arrangement?
thanks
Rolling harmonics are excellent ear when listening to music!!I thought 3rd 5th and 7th harmonics are good for some realistic bite in the sound? I suspect this will sound way too syrupy with 2nd harmonics dominating.
Any auditioning reports?

radio, have you discovered the Edit button? 5 posts in a row??
Just trying to be helpful.
I apologize!
I apologize!
I have just finished my ECC82 preamp. Have been testing it, changing tubes, listening. I am very satisfied with the sound.I used "cheap" plastic capacitors on the output, so during this weekend I am going to change them with some more exotic one. The pre is more like a prototype, and I will use it as an "testbench", while I will build me a new one?

Stenak, nice that you've made this preamplifier with ECC82 (12UX7)!I have just finished my ECC82 preamp. Have been testing it, changing tubes, listening. I am interested in this preamplifier the attitude of odd and even harmonics ?!
If you do some measurements please ask them here!
thanks
Hello ALL!
Here's the picture here shows the High-End preamplifier with ECC83, which I did.
Measurements are given below. Second harmonic is -47dB (0.76%), and the third is only -62dB ( 0.15%).
Here is the data and characteristics frekvensiska preamp, ... is it true High-End preamplifier with ECC83.
P.S.
I was looking for a project to exchange.... but that's it, we go ... poor English ...:
Cheers
Best Regard
Pozdrav zemjak!!
Friends here are the schematics (cicuit) of High End preamplifier with 12AX7 (ECC83).
Cheers
P.S.
Believe me, this preamplifier gives one truly (excellent) Valve/Tube sound !!!

Hello Radio,
R12, C5, C3, R13, C4.. looks like a filter on the signal path.
Stenak, great work.
Something like that!
With this filter Frequency response characteristics is obtained as shown in Figure A (6dB at 30kHz! with filter R12, C3).
Cheers

You can achieve the same thing using an equaliser. I think that an high-end preamp wouldnt need such a filter.

As a high-frequency attenuation in cables and the knobs for volume (for output). If you want to get the flat frequency response remuve the capacitor C3 and almost !?

ECC82
The only thing I have for testing the pre are my ears!
I change capacitors, valve, and so on....

OK, and offer a schematics that you tested with ECC82!?

I can write down some comments after my holiday...with rain, rain...and 15 degrees celsius...
