I personally use flattened expanded mesh. Here's a pic of some cb-18 using the same mesh for grill for inspiration. (it really stiffens up the front panels, and keeps things from vibrating)

nope... just been busy. that pic was a gratuitous copy from a speakerplans post -- not mine.
Since that builder used the same grill material as I do, I thought it might be helpful to cross post the picture.
(btw -- right now my shop is littered with test cabinet designs -- when I have something of value to post -- be sure, I will....)

Cool project, look forward to seeing a build of this! Didn't know you could horn load a cone as big as 21", or is it fine becuase it's a tapped horn?

you can load any speaker to a horn.
its just that some wil work better then others.

you can make panels 10 and 11 12 mm wood,no need to make them 18 mm heavy.

wel i was looking over the design,when saw this.
it maybe saves 1 or 2 kg doesnt make much difference tho.🙂
