Russ, any estimates of legato 3 availability please?
ta
Brian and I will have to work out the logistics, but I would think in the next month or so.
Russ - I'm in for a Legato 3.1 when available; what cans will synergize? This will put me in the market for headphones...
We listen hear to your experiments daily, much enjoyment!
Thanks - ron

I'm also in for a Legato 3.1, I'de love to compare with the IVY III with my Denon's.
Following this development and thread closely!
Thanks for the great stuff Russ!

Hello Russ,
as an owner of different Buffalo, Ivy and Legato 1 and Legato 2, and waiting to mod both, I would kindly like to know:
- when will the schematic of Legato 3 be available?
- does the replacement of the three parallel BS250 with TP0604 have a different result in terms of measurement (ex. THD, slew rate, bandwith) on a Zload of let's say 4,7K (the ballsie inputs), or just they perform better only on lower otput Zload or both?
This is just to understand if it is worth to replace again all BS250 with these new devices.
Thank you in advance!

Good question! As owner of different Buffalo, Counterpoint, Ivy and Legato 2 it will be interesting to know for me too.

Dear Brian, Russ,
is there no chance to have the Legato 3 schematic yet?
You know how diyers are... 🙂 anxious to experiment...
Thanks in advance anyway for what you're doing!

The onboard bal->se uses an opamp. It would take way too many components to do it discretely on the board. You can always use an external discrete unit (Ventus) driven from the balanced outputs if it's that important to you.
Thanks Brian... I figured that was the answer I just wanted to make sure. I am trying to have no opamps in my rig this time.
I've found a tube BAL/SE circuit with unity gain so I'm thinking of trying that but now that I think about the ventus I may build that as well.
Darn it, you've sold another module. There goes the Camaro fund!

The major beauty of Legato 3 is all discrete for balanced OP.
Is it possible to take SE output from one of the balanced OP and ground?
sbelyo - you could always try one of the discrete opamps on the market. I'm using a Burson Audio discrete opamp to good effect.

I did think about that. So it does work in the legato?
Nobody can help me to understand what below? Are these so odd questions?
Thank you!
Thank you!

Gianmaria - they are normal questions, but I think Russ & Brian are very bizzy at the moment. Working on their latest gem ? 😉

Since you already have the L1 and L2, why not wait and get the L3. Then you could compare the 3 and report the difference.
Just a thought 😉
No problem at all!
I appreciate a lot the work Russ & Brian are doing for us (DYIers) and therefore probably they don't answer because they do not want to anticipate a schematic not fully tested yet.
I will patiently wait... 🙂
Thank you,
