I' back!

I'm back.
Today has arrived some Micrometals(USA) cores.
Those 20 are T225-2, and the big one (a sample request) is a 400-2 core.

Hope those will be OK for output coils, I think...

Also I saw the T200-2B, is bigger in volume than T225-2 but it has bigger AL=21,8, instead T225-2 wich have AL=12.

Wich will be the best from those 2?

Also

Also, winding 12 spires equally on those 2 cores, the inductance value obtained is huge different:

The Genalex core with 12 spires:

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

The Micrometal core with 12 spires:

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

So regarding his parameters given in catalog, can anyone aproximate the saturation current of a 30uH inductance on T225-2 Micrometal core?

Yeah

wooow those are biiig

Yes the T400-2 is 100mm external diameter.

So, anyone tell about difference between T225-2 and T200-2B?

Amd for 30uH inductance on T225-2 core, at how amperes will saturate?

The amp will be a full bridge supplied at 125-150Vdc non simetrical, and will use 2 cores, 1 on each channel (2x30uH) on minimum 2 ohm impedance on 125 Khz triangle .

The core with lowest AL is an air core 😀
There always must be an tradeoff. With less wire you will get lower parasitic resistance.

I'm speaking seriously here, I own 20 pieces of Micrometals T225-2 toroids, and I intend to use it, in Output filter coils.

For 30uH, is aproximately 48-50 spires.

My question was WHY, T200-2B, with AL21, is better than T225-2 , wich have AL12?

Because I know the -2 material is the best for classD output coils(the material with lowest AL)...

Waiting for some little explanations, thanks to all wich has contribuite to this thread.

Both inductors, built on these cores (T200-2B or T225-2) at required inductance (30uH) will have the saturation current much higher, than you need (more than 100 amperes, said Pafi). So from these two cores it is better to use the one, where the serial resistance will be lower. So this will be the core, where it is needed to use a smaller piece of wire. So this will be the core with higher AL from these two. 🙂 And this is some kind of tradeoff: getting of a lower saturation current (100 amps instead of 120, freely speaking), to get a smaller serial resistance.
Practically both of these cores are perfect. You can use all of them. 😉

The monster is in MY HANDS

Also the litzwire is in my hands.:spin:

3 kilos of 600x0,071 litz Cu-Em (insulated between them) and textil external winding.

I just wait a little free time, and go further with the project.

Opinions about litz?:bulb:

Comparation

Those are the real dimensions of reel and litz.
Comparation was made to an 3mm drill spiral

Price around 200 euros ,all included, delivered exactly at my door (it woked me up from sweet dreams :cloud9:) , today al 11:30 Bucharest hour.

Check the parameters tabel and share your opinions.

It will be used for Class D Output Coils together with those T225-2 toroids from Micrometals, also for SMPS on trafo winding (ETD59 core) and PFC Core Coil too (T300-66).
