Hi tomtt,
In my experience, most people on Ebay haven't a clue and don't care. They just want maximum $$ for whatever these things are. Typically rescued from the junk pile.

Since they have no idea what this stuff is, I'd have to say they are lying. They aren't qualified to make any statements as to the condition of the things they are selling.

Then there are the lies of omission. I once bought an item that stated it powered up fine. It clearly showed two errors on power up. Not a $20 item either (HP 3324A). Ouch. It's out for service and will cost more than the purchase price I bet.

You are bidding on one pair of Advent tweeters. These tweeters were professionally removed from a nice pair of original Advent speakers. They were tested and both tested good on the day that this tweeter was listed.

This auction is for one Altec tweeter. Dated from the mid 1970's.

This tweeter sounds fine and was tested on the day it was listed and is in good condition. Long lead wire still on it for easy installation. Check my other auctions for woofers.

When I had a shop ( until quite recently ), I was offered these on a regular basis from the back of a white van !!

The usual line was that they had been ordered by a local club / bar / restaurant etc. and the owner had miscalculated so they had a few sets to get rid of etc.etc......
Usual price was always quoted as £400-600 pair but "you can have them for £75 pair".

I did not buy any!!

We all know how much a crossover costs. I don't doubt that the original manufacturer sells these crossovers for $1000. However, even with the most expensive parts, I can't see a pair of crossovers for these drivers costing more than $200.
