Car Booster

Hello Guys... I'm interested with your topic and i'm a fan of it also doing projects stuff like these boosters coupled with an214 amplifier or some other car stereos. There's no problem building this project in PH and is widely used in our country and the parts are still available in the market... Booster comes in different designs and to name a few are...double input transformer or with double output transformers using MJ2955 transistors... and the result are far more better than the conventional designs... my only problem is... I don't have the schematic diagram for these designs and I wanted to try constructing this project.. i've seen already this kind physically... if anyone of you have these stuff and is willing to share... please send me your schematics and suggestions for project construction through my email ( y2kact@yahoo.com )... I'm hoping your positive replies.. thanks

if this is for a car audio, a car amp would cost you less.
but if your going to upgrade your old booster, not worth the effort (to get louder) if the supply is only 12v...you can make it louder @ higher supply voltages (more batteries or bigger supply trafo) & bigger drivers (big input & output trafo)...get ready for weight lifting!!!

old design....a classic...:RIP:

yup that's an old design all right...... early 1960's stereos and car audio used the same design. it's originally a tube amp design, but adapted for transistors. it's ok if you don't mind a bit of distortion and limited bandwidth (toroid transformers properly wound would definitely help with the bandwidth issue). and those bias diodes (the ones near the input transformer in the schematic) should be mounted on the heatsink between the output devices to keep the outputs from going into thermal runaway.

another clue to how old this design is, is the output devices are PNP devices.... a hint of the Germanium transistor era, since there were no NPN output devices at the time. later when silicon became the dominant transistor material, all of these old designs were revamped once again to work with NPN output devices, since PNP output devices in silicon were rare and expensive and not well matched to their NPN complements (until about 1970 or so).

new version of booster

hi guys,
this ckt is designed to boost your car amps
to drive lower impedance...
i recommend 24-48v supply...:D

hi all.. tnx for you comments, i have also a diagriam of booster using a 2N3055..i love this booster because of low supply and cheep parts here in the philippines, for now i have my complete unit use to my tricycle with a 7 band equalizer and an amplifier using a AN214 ic sounds good..i like the bass punch and the treble...if your wish to send you a clearer diagram pls post your email then i send you..

cheers...
denver,

could you pls. send to me the booster diagram that uses 2N3055 transistor.

Thanks.

Edgardo

good day to all bassheads... i am selling my booster outputs 200watts 4pcs. 450php each and a bass & treble driven by AN214 3,000php, speaker dai-ichi mrp 12inch woofer speaker for 500php each & 2 targa subwoofer speakers for 1000php each.. & a pioneer kp-500 for 6k.. reason of selling is i am upgrading my booster to 600watts..thanks
