B1 with Korg Triode

with triode , there are so many resistors that they're all practically in signal path

and here we have two more additional ones , so obviously in signal path

what's there not to understand ?

as Soundhappy did show , as result of his own time invested in Audiophoolery game ( and we all have our time invested in same game) - he found that even when there is difference , usual "Audio Superior" parts rarely bring difference in accord with difference in price

this Forum is all about brain and fun - how to have most fun with most brain and least money involved ........ in most cases not because something is super expensive and one can't afford it , but for brain sake

+1

I educate my self first by reading books about passive components in electronic,
buy specialised " Linear Audio " articles , then chose components with interesting parameters :
low noise, little drift with temperature, made for long time reliability with quality materials etc.
Experiments in class A amplifiers and preamp's is easy if build on perfboards or with point-to-point technique (not on the pcb)
After that experiences You get more confidence what is going on.
So You know limits of the circuit and special resistor or capacitor do not upgrade Your audio system with Fostex driver
at the point wher is sing with the same voice like Fastrex can do :D

For many years. At very least.. We had been recaping, replacing residtors in std audio equipment which is already legendary. We thought seriously wow there is an improvement using boutique parts. Until the exact same original is also compared AB. Again and again and again.

Audiopooh... More harm than good.. It get to a point we know what we are doing.

For that same reason.. I try to stick to the main bom as a general guide lol. And be patient letting it settle down.

ZM Your writing about me do not match any facts in my life.
EEVblog #29 - Audiophile Audiophoolery Audiophoolery game?
Understand my message was totally opposite to such attitude.
I repeat: If Diyer search for components in the hope of better audio quality than is more logical find the ones with desirable specifications guarantees by official industrial company (frequently at moderate prices) from Mouser, Digi-Key distributors etc. and avoid unknown stuff without serious datasheet

I'm impressed anybody can get those large poly caps (including large poly bypasses) on that tiny board. That's dedication to the cause. I had trouble with my orange drop polys.

My B1 Korg has worked without blowing up for many months now, sounds wonderful, and I am afraid to touch it any more for fear of pending desecration at my hands.

There must be a saying in audio-land that goes something like: Got it working and sounding great. What next? Keep screwing with it until it is screwed up and start over.

I may play with the bias when I have some time free but just left it at the standard 9.5 twist and am happy with that.

EEVblog is "spot on"...….but as long as the cable companies can fool people to buy their expensive cables…….it will be stupid not to do it.....

Try to look at what cables are used during recording, mixing etc.....just normal good quality un-expensive professional cables…….with good connectors.

Wakoo Frenchie understood my writing exactly opposite of intended meaning

what I said is - you certainly did investigate various options during entire span of your DIY activity....... and we all were , in one point of time , led to investigate what Boutique parts are bringing to the table ....... and - judging by last posts you wrote here , you engaged your brain , and decided what's best for you , not being blinded by pretty popular Doctrine that more expensive must be better

Sometimes some explanations pretend that this or that sound good - but we know that it does not sound good. Here we are in moving sands territory. imagine every possible trap/mistake of regular audiophile

then try to imagine every possible trap/mistake of regular audiophile going to DIY

I fell victim on each of these ........ once , then twice , then trice

I must be 600 yrs old

then remember what Pa is often saying - "this is entertainment , not dialysis "

moral of the story - be wakoo , be happy
