Zenductor

Question #1 would be how does the ZenLu sound compared to standard?
Question #2 would be how about letting ZenLu breathe more with a higher voltage supply, say 19V or even 24V?
Hello after a while!

Some days ago I was scratching my head. Washed the hair, but the scratch didn't go away. I had to do something about it...
I realized that I had tried Zen variations 1 to 4, lite, inductor, ZV8, ZV9. Mofo. Zenductor.
For some time I was happy with a MoFo (with the preamp of course). Then I tried Zwnductor (ver1). Then Zen V8 with an inductor. Then listened and compared. At the end, I modified all of them (four monoblocks - two in the living room, two in the bedroom) to ZV8-ductor, and I was itchyless...for a while.
But I realized that I haven't tried a Zenductor LU. So yesterday I modified one of the bedroom monoblocks.
Turned it on. No smoke. Good. Then compared the sound vs a "normal ZV8-ductor". Gain increased. I have an impression of somewhat better bass, but the vocals are a bit more pronounced too. Grace Jones made two steps ahead.
Next, I will have to increase the input resistor to increase NFB and reduce the gain a bit, in order to make a fair A/B comparison...
Funny, isn't it? 😉
P.s. Don't get scared, it's just a rat's nest 😀

Some more feedback on the matter: 😀
I modified the other channel as well.
It is interesting to note the changes in the sound. Tonal balance changes. If we ignore for the moment the differences in gain, and perhaps a bit more or less distortion, there is yet something else at play...
I guess it has to do with the variations of amplifier output impedance/damping. The loudspeaker sounds different. Now it is more 'lively' and perhaps 'dynamic?'.
But whether it is better or worse (Than the ZenV8 -inductor) is a question of taste, and really depends on the loudspeaker being used. Just reminds me for 100th of time that we cannot realky consider amplifiers and loudspeakers as separate. There are one that just dance together, and those that don't (or do it forcefully, but there's no grace).
That said, I found Zen V8 an interesting prototype, because I can run it as a "normal" amp, with some negative feedback, or I can load the lourspeaker differently (like in Zenductor ver1) with some positive feedback, or I can opt to make it a transconductance amp (without negative feedback, also without positive feedback).
Which one sounds best? I hate to say it, but...It depends. On the loudspeakers mostly, but your ears/taste too...
Unfortunately, there is no best ice-cream in the world 😉 🙂
