Skodaboy: Yup, nicely improvised case. That wooden bezel could pass off as Walnut at first glance - maybe worth giving it a coat of light varnish/shellac, if not already done.. A moderately difficult future addition would be a pair of retro circular Carver-style backlit VU meters.

Thanks for the feedback guys.The softstart is really for my later project , triamp/active crossover and therefore three transformers to switch on! The softstart doesnt help speaker thud on its own and anyway the juanjing isnt bad for that.I have another 3886 board and have just won on ebay for $10 an 1875 juanjing board ill use for tweeter amp with the small transformer.

Yea the wood will probably get a china wood oil treatment.which i have already. The wood is actually a left over floorboard made from what is commonly called "tassie oak".Its a hardwood from cetain types of eucalyptus and is relativly cheap down under.

And frankly, I'm also a diyer. Just rebuild maroun's 3886 phile circuit into a new layout, in order to be more easy to be installed into a case. Following shows my own amplifier in running, wires not sorted yet, sorry 🙂

Boards can be switched very easy, because all screw holes are exactly in same position. And sounds, not bad 🙂
