They are seriously overpriced.
QA660: RMB2-2.5K
QA860: RMB3-4K
The DAC in QA860 is unknown.
QA660 has various coaxial output(75Ohm and 1100Ohm) for different taste.
I am not electronic trained nor heard audio equipment of this luxury class, do you know the taste of 75 ohm and 110 ohm?
Forget flac. It claimed that its flac is best among the class, precision up to 1-3 seconds. I hope the ABRSM examiner has this precision level😀
It claimed that development is ultra high, for not using ARM+linux. What's fault with ARM + Linux? I suspect re-inventing the wheel is another market gimmick.
The QA660 is for connecting with his QA100 D amp + SMPSU + digital input only. For it has a I2s input.
Even pay more not guarantee has better sounding. The invest too much on market gimmick.
These products target the quick rising income group. For these luxury good higher price has higher demand, so they usually overpriced.QA860 comparable to 5K audio quality

It seems its not too expensive (nor too ugly) for a fair number of Head-fi guys. There's universal admiration for its SQ over there even though the price is clearly off-putting for many. It does take a certain chutzpah to ask that much money I must admit - but compared to some other high priced stuff, this product by all accounts delivers the goods.
Oh I accept it will be one of the best but for sure I am not going to pay 960 Euro for a good sounding Ipod. I think you can compare it with watches. There are customers for Breitling while Seiko watches are less expensive and more precise. The Seiko will not be seen but the Breitling will draw eyes as it is expensive.
110 ohm is not a coaxial impedance though its roughly what to expect from a twisted pair such as might be used for differential digital signalling. I think an HDMI cable might consist of several 110 ohm twisted pairs.
In the past ARM was seen as 'industrial strength' but I suspect this is now changing as more and more low cost and free tool chains become available. Perhaps to get a marketing edge ARM has become too mainstream? You're right about re-inventing the wheel being a marketing gimmick - of course you can't then call it a wheel, you'd need to have some flowery language like 'degenerate ellipsoidal linear translation equipment' 😀

I'd not say that the Tera player was like a watch - because as you say the cheaper watch often keeps time better than the more expensive. Perhaps this product is more like an expensive kind of coffee which people drink for the taste alone, not the marketing image. I can't help but think that showing off a player like this would be more likely to draw sneers than gasps of amazement 🙂 The uninitiated would dismiss this player's look as that of a university final-year electronics project methinks.
My player has finally been packed for shipment yesterday. After that I got a kind email telling me that the menu is in chinese only !!!! I will try to arrange for a translated version translated to english/german/french/dutch. If the factory is willing to cooperate that is.
This company seems not have international vision! He can't believe non Chinese buy this product.
It still have long time for you receive this player, if you are not in China.
Since I have plans with this player I yesterday decided to have it sent. A translated version of the menu will be incorporated in a firmware update which will be sent within a month. I offered to translate the menu to german/french/dutch and they are thinking about this. I can only do so if the chinese-english translation is ready as my chinese is eh ..rusty.
This company sells this device only in China (till now).
Of course you are right, my comparison missed a point as this device delivers the goods soundwise. Had to go to work otherwise I would have changed my post.
When the folks on the street get to know it is expensive even the most ugly device will be liked.

Last weekend I have a long txt chat. He surprised Topping selling such a high price in Ebay. He said its too risky to deliver to US. I suggested him to find an international agent.
I searched Taobao, there are several "lossless" player. This is the most cheap one, but I don' think its the most inferior one in term of audio quality.
Why is delivery to the USA risky ? And who is "he" ?
The Kwangchow shop master of HIFI360. I don't know why he think its risky. He had never heard Ebay before. The risk may partly due to Taobao's rule, partly due to his ignorance.

A lucky guy he is 😉
Never would have thought internet experience is that different in China. I mean, Ebay is pretty well known with lots of chinese sellers but apparently no chinese buyers ?!
Not worse quality - probably the same item seeing as all the good stuff I look for on eBay originates in China. Taobao is just a much better site than eBay - the fees are lower for one thing and there's no auctioning hence a shorter time before getting what you want.
Taobao has stronger consumer protection. The money are kept Alipay until the customer received and examined the goods. That's the reason HIFI360 feel shipping to US is risky. The consumer can cancel transaction before arrival. If the system complete transaction mandatory, the customer may give him negative feedback and complaint to customer service.
Got the player today. Build quality is much better than expected. I haven't listened to it yet as it is staying powered on for a few days. After that I will connect it to hear how it sounds. Menu in chinese is not practical (as expected) but operation is straight forward. One thing that I don't like is the LED of the SD slot blinking while playing music but that could be something personal.
Power transformer is slightly humming but not that it is annoying. I think I would have liked the blue white display of the first series better but it is clear enough to me. The large "FLAC" in the display is OK !
Being a longtime Hifidelio owner I already know for some years that optical devices are something of the past and this player confirms that again as it is a joy to operate.
How will it sound ?
Weiyan, I can understand why Taoboa is liked better. I am not too fond of Ebay either as I don't have the feeling of freedom from the system. Too many "must do's". Some like that, I don't.

Jeap Paul,
Glad to hear your HIFI360 arrived.
I am flickering between this player and computer with Async usb.
You seems dislike coaxial cable nor optic fibre. Is there any neg. experience? Audiophile use coaxial. Recording studio use coaxial too. I searched the internet know that its difficult to keep jitter below 200ps for coaxial. Is 200ps significant that offset the high performance dac?

If you're thinking of using an async USB DAC with your computer then isolation is what to look for. Otherwise you run the risk of SMPSU noise from your PC getting inside your pristine analog circuits and ruining the sound. This player could have its mains isolation improved quite cheaply by adding more CM chokes on the input (beyond the one already fitted). It has low current draw so high impedance chokes are quite feasible.
Jitter is an issue for S-D type DACs because of their high ultrasonic output. Much less of an issue with multibit DACs.

abraxalito,
Thank you. I am currently using optic fibre connect to build in sound card.
Should I ask a naive question:
what's S-D type DACs? Is this single bit DAC?
Are AD1955, WM8740, CS4398 (edit) PCM1794 in this category?
Asking this question, you know I am so ignorance😀

S-D type DAC means 'Sigma-Delta' - see you're none the wiser now I've spelled it out are you? 😀 Some S-D type DACs are single bit yes, mostly though nowadays they're what I call 'lo-bit' meaning a lot fewer bits than the original input but more than one. Yes all the DACs you mention are in the 'lo-bit' category.
S-D DACs produce varying amounts of ultrasonic noise and in the presence of jitter this noise can and does fold back into the audio band. The result is noise modulation. Data-correlated jitter is the worst possible type because if the noise is static we'll normally filter it out mentally.
You may say you're ignorant but you were much better at reading that VS1053b datasheet than me 🙂
