Bill, here is how to wire the mute relays with the Remote Controller Board (RCB)
1. Run the =12V relay from the PSU together with the ‘MUTE’ output from the RCB.
2. The +12V drops off to each +12 V relay supply on each board
3. The ‘MUTE’ drops off onto the adjacent mute control pin
(on a future iteration of the RCB I will connect pin 2 of J2 to pin 2 of J3 make wiring up the mute control easier)

Ok that makes sense, I kind of thought was what was going on but after toasting one board I would ask first. Any particular routing for this cable, I would think it is not much of a noice generator.
That’s correct - just twist the +12V and the Mute line together from each board to the next. The only possible noise would be ‘clicks’ as the relays switch from the fast rise fall times coupling into the amplifier boards but I tested for that and it’s silent.
I have a complete operational amp on my bench now. I will let it burn in all night and move it to the living room tomorrow.
Well, while I am still struggling with the remote control board I thought I would reflect on the sound. Since my current preamp is a BA2018 that is what I am comparing it to, I do not consider myself a good person at reviews, but I will trudge on. I do believe the sound character is driven by the fets,in my case I am using the TI fets. The sound is much brighter than the 2018 and the detail brings vocals more forward, the sound stage cues seem to be more significant because I am hearing a larger sound stage that I had previously thought was driven by the asymmetrical room. Since my current amps in rotation are my Pete Millette uni-amps (KT88 tubes) the sparkle is welcome and paired well with the lush sound of the amps. I am not sure if it may be a tad bright with my solid state amps I will have to see, since I run Roon and also room correction software on a mini DSP I can equalize with ease. I also was wandering if while both the TI and LSK both measure well if the fets will sound different. Since I have a spare set of boards and will have to build them up and see.

What are your listening impressions of it?I have a complete operational amp on my bench now. I will let it burn in all night and move it to the living room tomorrow.
Andrew, is the drill template supposed to be larger than the internal plate, and the circuit board layouts larger than the boards themselves?
Chris, the drill template should exactly match the holes of the boards. The template should be the same size as the base plate. Are you printing out in landscape on A3?

PSU board Done, works like a charm. I went ahead and linked them. One thing i did notice is there are no polarity markings for the LEDs on the silk.

Andy, they must be linked as you have done. I did this to make sure the + and - supplies were completely separately regulated before combining them.
LED silkscreen - apologies for that. Seems the polarity is obscured during the board manufacture. I’ll have to update future boards.

There is a lot of the silk screen cut off on the relay board too, also R19 is not on the BOM.
Thanks
Thanks
Andy,
I think you will really enjoy this preamp, I bought some new headphones and have been just letting them play all the time to break in the diaphragms with my amps turned off probably put another 40 hrs on the preamp. When I turned my amps back on I was surprised the improvement. My first impression was it was a little bright, that is completely gone and I prefer my Alpha Nirvana to my tube amps now. I upgraded from my Meze 99 Classics ( witch are a darn good headphone for the price) to hifiman Anada and am really enjoying the headphone amp as well. Looking forward to the Wolverine.

Chris, apologies for the late reply - I’ve been mostly off grid in Scotland for 18 days.
I don’t think that print out is to scale. It’s been printed out as far as I can see to maximise print size on a sheet of paper. I can print one out for you next week and mail it up to you If you like.
