Would anyone be interested in a group purchase of DCX or DEQs?

FYI: I have 3 of the A500s ... It also has a turn on "thump" unless the volume nobs are turned to full-mute.. For the price I can live with that

I have Ultracurve and EP2500 in my system and find Behringer stuff tends to cut a few corners when it comes to making their equipment thump proof. The Europower lacks muting. I find it does ok if power is turned on/off at the mains. Have you tried this? I think their switches ark sometimes when you turn them off. Turning down all those passive attenuators is silly. I used to do this, now I set up my system to all come on/off with the press of a remote button, and only problem is a very quiet sound after it all switches off through the subs.

BUYER BEWARE!

When I purchased Ultracurve I contacted the Australian Service centre for Behringer to be sure I would be covered for warranty if purchasing from the US - it would have been much cheaper. They told me I would be mad to do it, since, although still covered by warranty, the chances of units failing is much greater due to them being designed for a different voltage. Even though you can switch them, reliability isn't there.

I'd like to buy Ultradrive DCX and possibly also A500, however, only if I can get it from Australia.

Is there a way us Aussies can be included in the group buy without having to ship from the US?

It's easy to find their stuff over here without travelling too far.

If we need to start another group buy for Aussies, then anyone interested please let me know.

Chris, did you get the Email I sent last night? I am very interested in both pieces. Is it too late to get onboard ?

You're not too late 😉

I did not see your e-mail.. Can you post it here on this thread and I'll add you to the list.

BTW: This is Finals week for me so I'll be a little slow getting back to everyone.. I'm planning to send out an update end of this week 😉

paulspencer,
I live in Australia and have been trying to get my hands on the DCX unit for quite some time now. The problem is that, according to everyone I have been in contact with, including Behringer in Germany: "production has been halted because one of the primary chips has been discontinued. The absolute earliest we will see them is next February, and this is if they can find a suitable chip within the next 3 months!"
By now I have e-mailed and phoned "every store in the world"; I have found a few available units and will order one myself this week. So, DIY_newbie, I am withdrawing from the group buy. I do not want until next year...
Best Regards
Erik

I'm going to buy one soon, and would be happy to organise a local Aussie group buy. I'm not sure if it will be an advantage for those interstate, but anyone interested please let me know. Hope you don't mind me using this thread for an Aussie group buy but I figure we don't need a separate thread for this.

out of stock

Hi guys,
I have just got my hand on the last DCX unit ;-)
It will not be available for quite some time...according to Behringer.
Regards
Erik

<Hi Erik,
<
<I am extremely disapointed to tell you this is correct information. <At the very minute we can not produce any DCX2496's due to a <chip shortage around the world. We are sourcing a new chip but <the units will need some re-design which means it will take <some time. I don't see us producing any DCX2496's until early <2006. At this point we have no confirmed shipping date. <Hopefully we we will have something a little more accurate to <tell you in the next few weeks.

Darn, I was wondering what was happening with this!

Does anybody know of any comparable alternatives? I might just have to build a home theater PC and use software/sound card crossovers... I already finished the board on my second amplifier, so an active crossover still seems attractive.

Joe,

I aplogise for not posting earlier. I've been calling the behringer folks weekly trying to find out when the DCXs are coming back. Officially they are not discontinued, just not availble. The latest information I got was that they will be available in mid to late january 🙁 ... I still have everyone's information and as soon as they are available we can get this group purchase pushed through. Apparently I timed this GP at exactly the wrong time 🙁

Not too late at all..

I'll know later next week exactly when the DCXs should be arriving. Once I know I'll start collecting people's names again..

I'm not sure how many people that replied before are still wanting one, so I will e-mail everyone again as well as post on this thread when I can start collecting orders again..

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up so they knew it was going to be restarted...
