Will you help a newcomer with his first multi-way project?

Another question... do you know any PCB to jack/Cable connector of high quality? It should be very tight. I don't want to solder the internal speaker wires directly to the circuit board of the crossovers, in case I would want to change anything, or something blows up. Also do I need bananas for this?

If you want a really long lasting good connection, though, it seems better soldered. Or, crimped PROPERLY with the right tool-I was researching for an amp test jig and overwhelming evidence was a crimp is better.

If you need to change something, re-solder. Or cut and re-crimp. Any other connector will oxidize over time.

As for mounting the coils, yes, watch out. Orient X/Y/Z, space far apart. You can test by driving voltage into one coil and measure across the others. Hopefully someone will post a more detailed procedure-start another thread if they don't.

It was like another birthday today... I played with them for few hours, I was testing them with little equalization control and I love them! Lovelovelove... I'll make 1:1 circuit plan tomorrow. BTW Thank you guys, I wouldn't ever try to do this without diyaudio.com and all of you that posted here. I'm already happy, the result doesn't matter. I love it! I love speakers, I want to get this as paid job lol. thanks! I will update soon.

This is the 1:1 version. The final version will be a little smaller, directly on the PCB. Now I need to get 15 metres of speaker wire and a PCB to get started with actual building. Meanwhile MDF is being cut... I will continue the work on Monday. I have all the components I need I think.

Hi Pipsk

What is the approach on this lay-out to develop the lay out in a acid solution? Then the opposite is part is nude.

Or do you spray the nude copper and remove the tape and then place the board in acid.

Personally I think it is not worth the effort just as easy to place the parts on a piece of wood and connect them with wire works fine.

In your case the design is already clear so you do not have to change things so it will look nice and tidy.

I will spray it, then remove tape and put into the acid as you said. I know it's a lot of work (I actually did it) But this is my "End of school" project (don't know how do u call it) And they will certainly grade me better for this than just for a bunch of wires on a board. It was the ultimate pain in the *** to do, but... The hardest part is done and I'm happy how it turned out so far... knock, knock. I did it first time in my life this way and the tape removing part was actually fun he ^_^ soo, I'm going to move on to some soldering and more testing and finally. Box building. I'll keep this thread updated...

P.S. BTW I have a pair of old 3way "shelf"? speakers (they are like 35-40 litres and 25years old, they are really big) I have one problem with them (apart from that they are slowly dying) the tweeter does a click sound or cracking or pop, I don't know how to call it it's kind of different from when u have dust in your pots. But they do it only in certain frequencies and mostly when bass sounds are playin.. Are they blown out or it's just the crossover? (Again) (they do it even on small volume but mostly on bad recordings that have a lot of compression) IDK if it's not the amp tho. Is it possible that not completely working crossover can destroy tweeters by feedeng them bass or theyll just click at low volume?

When it only occurs when bass is playing then I would conclude the steepness of the cross over isn't enough.

It can be the voice coils are burned and a bit bigger that they scrape the airgap.

Not yet, Box should be ready tomorrow if everything goes right. (woodworkers...) I still need an amp for it, I blew something in mine, it works but it disorts at certain frequencies... I made a new topic in class D forums but no responses :/

Buy a secondhand sony es set from ebay.

Here I buy a set for 200euro.
see picture

or 300 euro for the black set.

I just almost finished my own class D amp it wasn't that expensive because I already had a power supply. And the housing is made of spare pieces birch plywood. I will make some pictures to show it.

But building your self is more expensive then buying a good second hand one.

Hells . I had a very similar sony cd player but I can't find it. I don't know what it was but it looked like this one for sure but I didn't have speakers to test it back then... BTW I don't hear good words about sony around here, and I can get CNC machined box exactly for my needs for ... free, maybe I'll get free power supply too... but I don't know now... I was nearly decided to build my own amp but I don't even know if what I wanted is a good idea.

PS what apple notebook is that?

It is a macbookpro just bought a few days ago. It is way to exspensive 😀
My other laptop was slow, and I pored some coffee in it so the keys are working good and it goos in error after some time :cannotbe:

Here the pictures of my class d amp 180W+180W. I have to make the text on the front. It is totally hum free and noise free and incredible loud

Nice 🙂 what did you built it from? Is that your design or is it something widely available? 180w looks good for my purpose, but I would like to implement DAC with at least 2 inputs because my sound cards suck. My MBP is OK but disorts at max output volume and desktop has spdif/optical out.. That should be best way to get the sound to amp.

The bad thing is I like the sound of my old amp, it has button called kontur, which I don't know what exactly does, but it adds lots of depth to the music, when it's off amp sounds very flat. I hope that my new amp won't need that button :/

It will be not so expensive and very useful to gather with a docking server with movies and music. Forget a cd or dvd player you shout think about a wireless media server and quality soundcard.

M-audio has a very good name in pc audio.

M-Audio Delta 1010 LT | Studio.sk

Make a box with heavy powersupply and nice power amp and volume control connected to the soundcard.

Nice power amp to build your self. I used these modules very simple to build your self. Only it can be easy go wrong with a print wiring layout.
The wiring of the circuit-board is like the drawing short straight lines to the driver chip.
