The quote from Scientific American appears to be written with a certain tilt. Probably the Logical Positivism wiki gives a better overview of philosophy of science history relative to issues such as verification, the views of Popper, etc.

No. Tilt was a euphemistic way of saying it was revisionist history. That in turn is euphemistic way of saying it was likely something closer to historical negation. Popper wasn't in favor of logical positivism and verification, he was a critic of it. Maybe the author of the article confused Popper with Wittgenstein.

Yup, he's popularly credited with introducing falsifiability into the discussion. In this context my comment just used him as a stand-in for any knowledge whatsoever about the process and philosophy of science.

Not at our shop. Belden & Switchcraft, usually mnade by Don. Exotic speaker wire was just comign to the fore. Nothign we sold was really pricey. Cobra Cable was the most exotic, but kept blowing up PS Audio power amps.
