Apologise for the click bait, but I thought this was worth sharing
Excellent insight into how individual perception is the foundation of our hifi listening experience.

Excellent insight or just a youtube rant that matches your viewpoint?
Haha! Ooo the truth hurts 😂 did you watch it yet?Excellent insight or just a youtube rant that matches your viewpoint?
Why should I watch it? As TNT said this is not a competition. But you seem to think it gives some sort of insight that I don't actually need.
why? 50% of the blowtorch threads were taking the **** out of bybee purifiers.Everyone who patecipated at the Blowtorch thread(s) should hear what the man says
I'm in a baking hot train right now with about 1sqm of windows open and loud billowing at about 10 Hz from the wind. Which is odd, since the length of the carriage couldn't possibly support a 10Hz standing wave.
In any case, the YT clip could go either way: I might like it, or I might not, after I get a chance to see it.

Helmholtz resonance?since the length of the carriage couldn't possibly support a 10Hz standing wave.
I've never been one to ram my world view down someone's throat. I'm not into competition, but I thought this had merit as food for thought. John very eloquently made an argument as to why we all hear differently, and to why the pursuit of measurement excellence for it's own sake is not relevant to what we perceive when we listen. It's about understanding the mechanism of perception. If you haven't looked in that direction then maybe it would be useful.
I make no judgement on what you do or don't need. I have no skin in this game. I just thought it would be a good watch if you are interested in sound reproduction because it looks at an angle that I've not seen often: how exactly do we hear? Why should I watch it? As TNT said this is not a competition. But you seem to think it gives some sort of insight that I don't actually need.
Could you give some key points? 36 minutes is a lot of time and YouTube transcripts are incompatible with my skimming education
If he would have thought it through, he would have realised that the measurement outcomes influence his perception and thus are highly relevant.I've never been one to ram my world view down someone's throat. Except your initial post is very judging as is the topic title. If you had no skin in the game you would have put a precis in place of your take on it. But you didn't....I make no judgement on what you do or don't need. I have no skin in this game.
It's not incompatible to believe in measurements and accept that different people have their own preferences. Most objectivists are unsuprisingly quite rational.
I'm not hating on subjectivits, I have a lot of respect for those who I take the science of measurement forward. The point of this video is to show how measurement will never correlate completely with perception and that is where the interest lies. I guess my thread title ruffled feathers when it was just intended as playful.
John's argument is that you cannot measure all the relevant things that relate to our preference because of the nature of our perception, that's the take away.
To my ears and knowledge I find much of this video to be nonsense.
Taking a look at how many of John's speakers perform, I'm not going to take his opinions seriously here. His silverback ference speaker he made, was the reference a dog turd?

Why should a reproduction contain any form of distortion?
