The 222SX is a powerful small amp. Sounds like a deal to me. I did an install when the 222sx first came out on a Petras 15 in a Toyota pickup. I was very impressed with the way it pounded for being such a small amp. Sounds like a good price to me. The Rodek is a Zed amp, so it speaks for itself. A full system of high quality old school amps for $175. Sounds like a deal..............

Petras! Now there's a name I haven't heard in a while. Their DVC 10's were a staple in our shop for a while. Still have a spec sheet somewhere for that line...

I do miss the Petras. The old M&M subs are my favorites though. Still collect them too. Both Petras and M&M are getting hard to find in decent shape...
Just read the beginning of this thread but it made me think...
Next time you're looking for an amplifier in a store and a salesman (or saleslady) comes up to you and asks what you are looking for, tell them "I want X watts, Y channels" or whatever and "I want it to be made in the USA." - and spend the extra whatever % if you can afford it to buy the US model. If everyone starts doing this, it might just catch on...Kinda wishful thinking I know but I'll tell you - I'll make the effort.

is it about psu?
It seems to me to be more important to get lots of watts or "underrated watts" is sometimes advertised on used listings. The thing that I find interesting is if you look at ampguts the dual bipolar outputs cant possibly deliver the rated power, but more importantly, how do such small cores deliver the current. If I were to take a guess if an amp was good or not, I would look for more than 2200uF capacitance, and a chunky transformer that can deliver power.
So when people talk about the good old day amps, are they nostalgic, were the power supplies bigger, amp topologies better, build quality and components used?

anyone remember the Savard Raps? those subs hit, if you could get the tinsels to stop breaking.
I would have bid on this had I been able to, don't know about them but sure seems cheap for HK equipment. 260238924082

H/K's crossovers were nothing to write home about. Spec's were good, and that price is right. The switchable selections are less desirable than pots. IMHO.
A couple of spare external crossovers is always a nice thing to have. I'd have bought that had I seen it!
Dang it. My nakamichi is great, the switches are so-so but it is the cleanest one I ever ran and good enough frequencies for subs/hp. Problem with this HK is you can't run midbass the points look pretty limited. But yeah, had I been available I would have jumped on it for spare use. I think he listed it in wrong spot, I saw it because of other stuff he had on there. Still like dash mount ones better.
What do you guys think of the old Nakamichi PA-300 2/ch 70w+70w amp? no crossover, no gain adjustment just pure sound quality! i just traded a clean working one the other day for a working Soundstream rubicon Lil' wonder 2/ch amp because the guy wanted to run tri-mode and the Nak is not bridgeable.
Did i get a good deal?

Good question and nobody has answered yet. All I know is the crossovers were very good, but the places I worked at back then did not carry nak I got one myself. I never used the amps. Have a pa304 (silver one) here in need of a PS but not gotten to it yet, plan on trying that out and they don't sell cheap. There is a couple in epay now one is a sub amp. I was told back in the day the nak amps were very good SQ, and some people from there started soundstream that we did carry and they were similar quality (but that may have been the older black nak amps at the time). IMO SS was great SQ but they were not that large so we setup top systems with SS on highs/mids and LP on mids/lows (SS D series, LP X002). The LP were good and had more power but they never seemed to work as well on highs for multi-amp systems. LP full range was ok it had a warmer sound than SS. People say LP are great, but back then the SS worked better for SQ according to everyone at those shops including me. I'd like to know if the old nak works like a SS like I was told.
I had the opposite experience with my last setup. I ended up with an MC300 on the mids and a LP1002 on my horns. The main reason I went with the LP over my SS D200II as well as several other amps was because the LP had the lowest noise floor out of the bunch.
The SS seemed crisper, cleaner, sharper on highs and upper mid. The LP may have been good, but when you run active and can adjust the SS seemed to work much better. The LP sounded muffled in comparison. They were great in other setups, like the 2602 it was the bomb for an instant system; just drop a set of 10s in a car with 2/4 speakers and you were good to go it sounded good as the speakers were. We even ran 4 10s at 1 ohm and they put out a lot considering the size of that amp. I could never detect a noise floor from either brand amp, it was always something else if noise was present.
The noise floor wasn't noticeable with any of the conventional drivers I used but when I switched to horns the difference really started to show. I had also tried McIntosh, Xtant, A/D/S/ and a few others and the only one that was completely silent was the LP. I won't get into the sonic properties since out of all the amps I've used I've only had one that had a noticeable difference in sound. Other than that every amp I've owned has sounded exactly the same with the exception of differences in power and noise levels.

The PA-300 I got is one of the older black ones. seems like a nice one but i may put it up for sale. any offers or ideas on pricing/value? it is in very good condition.
