Nice find on the speakers! I have never repaired foam surrounds before. If you can find replacement ones I think they use white PVA glue to attach them.
Watch some videos and take it slow. Glue sets up quickly. I did a few Boston Acoustics woofers.
I have a set of HD-5 woofers that need re-foaming. I have since repurposed the cabinets with new drivers already. 🙂
But the woofers still sit there without any surrounds.

Excellent info, I have watched one video on a set of AR-8's. Good info, and X / wcwc you are right about wood glue. Sets up clear in about 15 min. Looking forward to some fun.
On the bench is a crab boil for dinner last night. Then a walk at sunrise today. Carolina Beach is very beautiful and water is super warm.
First pressings to check the tooling on the mold for the Vera-Link TWS Bluetooth amp came in. Everything fits!
Still waiting for the CNC aluminum nameplate to arrive so using temporary 3D printed one:

Nice line level passive crossover. Looks like -12dB/octave? With all those resistors, are you having some amplitude loss?
The frequency of the XO is designed with the impedance of the source and amp in mind so if those change, you need to modify it.
There are some slick active opamp crossovers that I got from Xkitz but never had a chance to try yet. Nicely made in Livermore CA with genuine parts. Only $50 for a 2 way LR. OPA1654 opamps and -24dB 4th order LR.

My passive will get jfet buffer on input and output. Yes, there is signal decrease, have not done any measurements. No need for now.
Thanks for info about Xkitz, but i built way too many active crossovers already. Thread 'simple active crossovers' has all the details including measurements.
This low pass will be for garage system.
I am putting together amp from old radioshack car amp fed by six 12 volt dc adapters in parallel. All leftover stuff.

Simple active crossover sounds better than anything i heard. If original toshibas are used, almost unmeasurable distortion. Measures so well you said it looks fake 🙂

Here is fun with garage system.

I've restored 10 in woofers with foam surround in my Seas 3 way $78 bargain pair from ebay. The magic glue to use is Tacky Glue. Walmart has it in the crafts section. Sets up fast and is remarkably easy to work with. Remains flexible when dry.I scored a pair of AR38s speakers for free. I hooked one up and was pretty impressed by the sound. Probably not super HiFi, but decent for my old ears. As I was checking out the surrounds, my finger went through. Probably a good thing it happened now as I was planning new enclosures and a possible recap, and maybe a x-over tweak if needed. I will learn how to install some new surround material. See pic's below.

Thanks for the info bonjonno. The ebay seller "audiodogs" whom I bought the foam surround replacement kit from includes some recommended glue (nitrile rubber glue) with the foam replacement kit. He told me that it drys faster than most other glues and if I wanted more working time I should look at "Aleenes Tacky Glue" which is available at Michael's here in Canada. Will decide once the kit arrives.

If you know what you are doing. Mine were not perfect. Smaller woofers were easier to get right. I did two 4" drivers and two 8" drivers.
Will be getting back to the bench later tonight. Just leaving T&C now - had a wonderful time. Will miss the turquoise water and superb snorkeling.
Vintage Nikko receiver circa 1976 is on the bench. Total recapping is the plan, almost 50 years of service on her. Idle bias and dc offset was still within spec!
