What's best: stand-alone binding posts or terminal cups?

JMF,
love where you're going but... you forgot the wireless interface! Based on the same technology as the "beam-me-up, Scotty" used on the Enterprise, integrated to the amp/coil thingy, to send the signal from the Pre without using wires... pure OFD (Oxygen Free Digital).

Geez I love it when a thread derails by that much! 🙂

More on track... Will be late getting my speakon connectors, courtesy of our latest typhoon (hurricane), the 3rd in 2 weeks... Roads are closed coming here, feels like living on a small island!

Please. You need to stretch your imaginations further. Now this is proper imagination. 😉 https://www.google.co.uk/patents/US...ved=0ahUKEwjpwPTuhbLPAhVqI8AKHaGBDfMQ6AEIHjAA A signal sent faster than light through another dimension no less. Granted too. Somebody at the US Patent Office evidently has a sense of humour. 😀

But, with a signal faster than light... where is the air between the notes? It would completely skip that part and then, there would be nothing to say about this anymore... that just won't do... we need to talk about the air... not the light! How can we listen to light? ... ooooh.. I see where you're going... Just like the air between the notes we can't measure but only feel, it's the light we can't see but we know it's there...

X, yes, a small island that just got smaller... to the size of a city! 🙂

That's the spirit. 😀

To each his own, it's a hobby after all. I like everything on the back. My biggest gripe about the miniDSP/nanoDIGI is that it has input on the front and output on the back. The darn thing can't be stacked with the rest of the electronics and winds up dangling in the back in the cable spaghetti.

Well, there *was* an experiment which seemed to send radio signals faster than light.
Just quoting from memory , it was basically a transmitter/receiver pair where signal was sent into a mile long transmission line , said transmission line was bent into a U shape and other end reached the detecting receiver.
Delay at standard light velocity was calculated, and if any pulse arriver earlier, it was "proof" of faster than light travel.

Such pulses were found and measured ... only problem is they went straight from transmitter to receiver chassis ... through a shorter straight path of course.

Agree there - at the very least the kit version should allow the option of flying lead for offboard mounting of the remote sensor for those who want to package the board in same chassis as amps. I guess the designers were more obsessed with most compact form factor over some aspects of convenience / tidy install.

Personally, I'd prefer more conventional 1U chassis such as on the 4x10HD and others - with volume control, input selector/indicators and remote signal receiver on the front panel.

There are common faster than light (FTL) phenomena - but they cannot carry information so no violation of causality. Angularly swept light spot over large distances for example - arc segment motion equals rotation rate x radius. For large radius, velocity along arc can exceed c. But alas, cannot be used to communicate info.

You guys are talking of miniDSP/nanoDIGI ??? Really, I would have thought that the measurements coming out of them would have your noses way high in the air when passing by such a thing for all of the noise coming out of them, miniDSP at least. Hey, I was wondering if my learned friends here are evolving so far into their hobby with soooooooo many years in it, that now, just like the religion of evolution believes (Nothing plus a whole bunch of time equals everything!?) that they have become one with their measurement tools & that is why they are unable to hear basic upgrades like say, oh, ah, what? something like HARDWIRING for instance maybe? Are you guys able to measure the difference between 2 identical CD's/DVD's/B-RAY's if one is left factory & the other coloured black all around except the information portion? Footnote: measurement tools are good tools for various tasks I embrace their use but not abuse as camp to hide behind 😉

Mr Linkwitz likes .I must have one Too many benefits @ very reasonable cost. @ air between the ears, woops I mean notes WTF are you talking about? Whatever you are on PLEASE just stop taking it! For YOUR sake SERIOSLY!
Cheers perceval first time I've posted here out of serious concern for anothers wellbeing.

You won't be able to convince him, X.... forget it.

ABTN, how about putting your absolute golden ears to good work instead?
SETI would need someone like you to listen to space noise and maybe discover an extraterrestrial signal. And I'm not joking, I like SETI and their spirit.
