As a person who was a fan of The Sweet at that time (at least, a fan of their album music) I have a different opinion. Desolation Boulevard is, I think, a better album.
Also, I'm not sure any of their music was amazing for it's time, they were very much of their time. Slade, T Rex, David Bowie and many others could be compared favourably with The Sweet in the Glam Rock genre.
