Beyma TPL-150 costs approx. the same as the Mundorf AMT 2340. Because of much higher sensitivity and larger frequency range, the Beyma is more bang for the buck though.... The Beyma can be crossed over as low as 1.2 kHz.
TPL-150H is the horn loaded version of the TPL-150. It can be used with even lower crossover point, and has got even higher sensitivity. Very interesting driver, if you dont have anything against horns.....

My mate in Melbourne has some and I'm hoping to hear them when I go to Mexico in a while. I'm interested in the stock units and maybe making an OS waveguide for them for a later project.StigErik said:Beyma TPL-150 costs approx. the same as the Mundorf AMT 2340. report back brett! when are you heading down?
gooki: Where can I find this tweeter?
I don't believe they're available at retail. I only managed to get my hands on them when a local speaker manufacturer (www.arvusgroup.com) was clearing out some unused stock.
If you're especially interested let me know and see if any others are available.
I have something to do there later in the year and I'm going to invite myself over. I thought you'd already heard them?terry j said:

I would like to as well, but the local distributor only brings in the Ti ND1030.tinitus said:This 18sound ND1020 cost only 80EUR 😀 havent heard it though

Then better this one only 34 euro.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
I agree a 100%.. no questions asked..
I will also toss in the hiquphon O1Wfs

you will be made welcome!
thought you heard the horrible story? will give you the skinny next time we meet then.
This ceramic 1" Visaton must be a new model
Very interesting tweeter
Note the integrated "RCL"...flat impedance

I'd have to say my overall favourite tweeter yet is this Japanese Matsushita 2.25 cone tweeter. I never would have bought such a large supply if they weren't! It's extremely smooth in response and load, extends fully to 20khz, has a very low resonance, the build quality is excellent & is small enough to offer very good dispersion which all adds up to a highly flexible performer. Many a tweeter would be envious of it's performance.

But in the meantime i doubt the need of tweeters at
all.
WOW - any more details about that one?
your page seems to be down.

Mind to elaborate? Which AMT do you prefer to the Precide Heils (also are you talking about the small or the big one, i guess the bigger, cuz the smaller needs 1.2k and up XO)?
I would like to hear a RAAL ribbon, to see if they really are as good as people say
i agree , they are expensive $350
I’ve been using Raal 140-15d’s for some time now.
As with any tweeter the implementation is just as important as the tweeter itself, but with optimum implementation the Raal’s do ascend into the rarefied atmosphere of high end audio.
When compared to the best dome tweeters around (B&W Diamond’s) the Raal’s get really close to matching them on large scale dynamics as well as micro dynamics at the bottom end (2-5kHz) of the treble spectrum. Above 5kHz the Raal’s come out ahead – where the micro detail and accuracy is astounding. They have definitely transformed my system to the extent that the stereo imaging is phenomenal and the sense of recording venue atmosphere is palpable.
As good as they are, I would still advise crossing over above 2.5kHz and 4th order is preferable. Matching them to a suitable MF driver is also critical. A poor MF driver can easily pollute the low treble range which will subtract most of the Raal’s sonic excellence.

Cheeky bugger...listing a paper cone tweeter😀 Yes to that Matsushita on all counts...
I have a few similarly constructed 2.5" early Peerless and Teslas that exhibit those qualities....but my particular fave is the Wharfedale Super 3 (3" cone) Alnico motor and metal dustcap....
KEF T27s are on my list, as well as some iterations of early Seas domes and a few Philips silk domes too.
Another Raal fanboy here. Keep the 140-15 above 3KHz and at least 24dB/oct and you will be rewarded with world class treble. All the detail you could ever want without ever sounding harsh or brittle or fatiguing....unless the recording is really that bad.
I spent are year buying and auditioning drivers in the prototype to what you see here. Raal won. Neo10 won.
