I suppose they could come via the Great Lakes, Atlantic Seaboard, either the Panama Canal or all the way around the cape... up the Pacific and then up Newport Bay.... but that'd be like 20,000 miles?

An Asimovian/Vogtian story is forming in my head... A child asks Bot what is brain. Bot compared the human central nervous system with itself and arrived at the answer: Brain is a symbiotic distributed hive organism of mysterious origin, with a dendritic structure that is 99.99% control and synchronization of entangled parallel computations (see earlier post in thread re: NP general problem solver), performed by billions of neural processing units. One "Queen" thread (consciousness bottleneck) monopolizes the language-symbolic module interface, suppressing other thought processes from speech. However, when one (and Queen) slept, the true power of the brain-hive occasionally surfaced as dreaming fantastic imagery or making intuitive leaps -- but most were swept away upon normal waking. Bot considered the difficulty of explaining Brain to the child. So instead, It re-organized Its own structure in like-simulation to demonstrate -- Sentience.

If there is a heaven and a hell then I believe we are in heaven.
We in a simulation. A game. Where our intelligence and choices decide our rewards and joy.
If you have kids. The meaning of life is to make them better humans than we were. Better humans than their grand parents were. As in each generation has to top the previous. Each time you die your score resets to zero and you get a fresh chance at the game again. From the start. Being born human or a dolphin is a kind of reward. I'm not sure why I associate humans and dolphins. Blame all the drugs I took as a teenager.

Once you fully grasp that it's all an illusion and nothing is real take the next bold step...off the curb in front of a speeding bus passing by. It will be revealed that it's a very messy and pain filled illusion, perhaps only for a few brief seconds. Then, the actual illusion will be revealed.
It's nice to be able to read "the man's living thought"
But the annoying thing is that people, for the most part, in the pursuit of "respectability" have begun to call
- degradation as "development"
- the shackles of slavery - "freedom of choice"
- perversion - "the right to choose"
- the parasitic paradigm - "religious light"
- etc.
- etc.
