Regarding midwoofers up until a few weeks ago I would have said the Audax HM130ZO as used in my Rogers DB101 but then I built some little nearfields which were supposed to be an exercise in cheapness using the FaitalPro 5FE120 and I had to change my mind.
As a bonus for the price of one Audax I can get three Faitals and a beer or two.

Audax PR 170zo
And where are you planning to purchase these ?
Audax PR170Z0 ?

Discontinued !
But Audax will certainly rebuild it with a GB of 100 to 200 units ? Or Maybe PHL with the same specs in a same spirit... but I believe the ceo of PHL (ex tech director of Audax) is not very interrested by the DIY world...
So maybe Audax.... they always build few units and can answer to little production serie !
Some says it's the better mid ever made for high efficienty and in the absolute... with the famous Coral 10 !
Is it true is an other story !

"... you have worked with?" well, me it was the woofer of Infinity QE's, a relatively cheap unit in a mid class system, but with the most detailed and natural midbass that I've ever heard

Those Beymas are expensive stateside.
Over here they are just under £50 ($75) including 20%VAT for the MI90 or MI100. There is no MI80, neither at the local sellers nor on Beyma's own site.
Haven't checked the details for differences but the MI100 is £1 cheaper than the MI90.

Which driver do you prefer?
Thanks for coming back, great UN BTW.
My project will be looking for a high sensitivity mid unit around 97-98 db so will search the various threads for ideas but the Beymas look good on paper.

It' sunday morning, the wife at work, the kids at Uni and I've got bugger all to do! ;-)
Have a look if Faital do a driver that would suit your project.
They seem to be very consistent and keep coming up with good, well specced drivers at very reasonable prices.

This guy has a good choice of drivers including Faital.
Never used Blue Aran but I've bought from Lean Business a few times and I only wish all online retailers were as good!
Faitals 6PR150 and W6N8-120 might be worth a look. The former because it adds demodulation (and Neo mags) the latter because of nearly double Xmax.
They add £20 to the price though.
Not that either of yours look bad by any means.

18Sound and Celestion offer 6" mids that allegedly reach around 100dB/1W/1m if efficiency is very important to you.
Other than that I know nothing about either.

Is there a thread on this build?
What tweeter did you use?
Box size?
Have any pics?
