Bigger LCD
Even if it's bigger, I think it's ok. And as it is bigger, it would give me ample space of the screen which is not covered. And secondly, even if I do not move the brown cable, the rest of the available room on the LCD fits the OHP. That's what I wanted. By adjusting the control panel of the LCD, I can make the size of the visible area fit exactly on the OHP. So, bigger is better!!!ywh said:new 15" LCD is too big , look for a old 14",or 13".
Re: Bigger LCD
but 15' is bad.from your Projector to the screen is too short .your Projector baffle your line of vision,if you move your Projector faraway you need a bigger screen more than you room
By adjusting the control panel of the LCD,your LCD is not 1024*768,maybe 800*600 600*400
EXTRAVAGANT
give up please!
I guess the LCD panel is HITACHI.that is good.nj_tom said:

Well, I will still try
Thank you for asking me to give up(!!!), but I will still try. Maybe I didn't convery myself clear. The pixel size (1024x768) will still remain the same. I don't think when you reduce the screen size (of the viewable area), the resolution is going to decrease.
Imagin a compuer screen where u see those 4 buttons that increases/decreases the brightness/contrast and also the size of the screen. The by adjusting the size of the screen, you do not lose the resolution. The resolution is the same. Just the viewable area changes.

Dont give up! Unless someone can show you for a FACT that it wont work. Recently I was told IT WONT WORK, I proceeded anyhow. I'm just a few minutes away from setting up my LCD controller card in a trash machine and connecting my laptop screen to it, first trials anytime now. Cant be done .....My BUTT! It might not be "the best there is" but I am certain I'll have a PJ by the new year.

Thank you zardoz
Guys like you boost the eneergy and enthusiasm. Thank you again.
And if I fail, atleast I can tell others not to go by that path. No one is going that path anyway, yet. So let me finish and see. If it doesn't work, atleast there will be few more who can learn from my failure (if I fail, i.e., - and I strongly believe I won't. If Dell 14.1" LCD can work, why can't Kogi 15" - I wonder).

Keep going nj_tom. Listen to Zardoz. He is a very practical man. You are doing great pioneering work. Even if you do fail which I don't think you will, it all adds up so others can gain. Takes guts to do that. Do you have your OHP yet. Some have a wider stage than others or are you planning on a custom build. Many possibilities to succeed. Yander26 did some mods on his OHP to fit a panel. Have a look at his posts. Page 8 or 9 "LCD panels" thread I think. Might be a help.

elongating the cables - and please get off the chinese gentleman's back 🙂
Hi,
i elongated the flexcable of my lcd quite some time ago (search for frankbatzen in the old and now locked projektor thread if you are interested).
The cable I used was a ata 100 harddrive cable but I was lucky not having to solder the 20 or so poles all next to each other-they were spread out on the pcb. Anyway what I wanted to say was that the cable I used is certainly 20 cm long without any harm done to the image quality at all.
Furthermore I would like to ask nj_tom to be more understanding of cultural differences that lead to different ways of formulating what you want to say. To "flame" a chineseman for not fomulating precisely (please give up!!) is an indication that you have probably never before written or spoken in a foreign language. I don't mean to flame you but I think that's impolite.
By the way if you decrease the image-size of a 15" display by whatever means (apart optical ones) the resolution will definitely decrease as well. Less pixels used-->lower resolution.

Re: Well, I will still try
I wouldn't give up, but when you lower the screen size you are in fact lowering the resolution because LCD's have fixed pixels. So the resolution does decrease.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

fabulous, fantastic, mindblowing
Ok, I wasn't checking here because I didbn't have the projector with me But now - I coouldn't be happier. I never thought I would get such perfect results.
When I put the Kogi LCD monitor on the OHP, the results were astounding. I can't describe my feelings.
I haven't got my own projector yet. So, I requested my boss to lend me the office projector (which is an Apollo Concept 2200 - 4000 lumens) and he agreed to lend it for a day. I took it home and put the LCD on top of it and switched it on. Wow, man !!! I have seen my friend has an SVGA projector - 800x600, 1200 lumens- for some $2000. I compared the picture, and I must say I was impressed with the quality of the picture. The quality is as good as the pictures posted by ywh.
My projector Dukane 680 MH Overhead Projector (7800 lumens) is on the way. I am thinking if 4000 lumens is giving me such results, what would I get with almost double the brightness.
I had to return the Apollo today. My MH projector is on the way, and it will be aatleast a week or so before I get it on my hand. I will post the pictures after that.
By the way, the sorrounding was dark. I was unable to test it during the day time. With lights, on, the picture gets dim.
No I have to work on extending the brown cable. I have gone thru the details here. I will be posting my results when I get to that point. But - finally a success, and I am proud of it. I must thank uvodee, yender26 and remp for their moral support.
