Beautiful movie.
There was a lot happening behind the scenes in "Roman Holiday"'s production. -- Dalton Trumbo the screen-writer had been black-listed, real reporters were used in the final scenes.

Just got out to the theater to see Spotlight. Very good movie. I can see why it was worthy of its Best Picture award.

Bob: over the weekend I took this in at the newly revamped IMax at the Museum ( now 4K digital)
America Wild: National Parks Adventure - IMAX Victoria
While it was bracketed with slightly intrusive commercial messaging, the film itself was probably the most spectacular of the short documentaries I've seen in the series so far. We're almost inclined to watch the Humpback Whales again - some of the underwater scenes in 3D would be mind-boggling - particularly those played inverted so they look like they're flying just above the reflective surface of the water.
Hell, I might even catch the latest Star Wars again - this screen is much larger than any other currently within easy driving distance, and as an occasional dalliance, bigger can be better.
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

started in on Audra McDonald in "Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill" - damn but did she nail it to the wall - not just the singing, but unfortunately the whole train wreck that Billie sadly devolved into - so much so that after seeing this consummate performer (Audra) in much lighter fare on the small screen, it was hard to watch more than half an hour

Watched a couple seasons of Bosch recently. He has an audiophile setup, a Marantz turntable, possibly a marantz tuner, and a McIntosh 240 amp. This runs some Ohm (Walsh 3?) speakers.
They are set up in a mostly glass room, probably sounds horrendous in actuality, but perhaps the omni reflections make it sound spacious?

Eva Marie Saint is simply charming.
I like the last few frames of the movie: "The Tunnel of Love"
Cary Grant was somewhat reluctant to be the male star as he was 55.
The "Oak Room" of the Plaza Hotel used to be a haunt of mine...seems like a millennium ago.
EDIT: If you like Hitchcock -- about a dozen years ago a new print of "Rear Window" was made-- I saw it at the Film Forum in lower Manhattan and it is a wonderful edition. Grace Kelly is a heart-stopper.

Ron, as an 'omni fan' (I DIY Walsh speakers), omnis properly set up could work in a glass room...but since I don't know 'Bosch' *shrug* I'm only guessing. 😉

Thanks, I'll try to get a chance to watch it. I also like "The Birds", "Rope",
and "The Trouble With Harry".

The way she wears her hear, wow!

I understand that omnis like reflections, which I alluded to in my post.
I saw some measurements of Walsh 5's in Audio Mag at one point. Not terribly tidy, as I recall. I've seen some pics of the drivers, lots of trial and error construction and damping (foam blocks and looks like smeared on caulk or something) on those things, probably a real bugger to get unit-unit consistency 😉
I listened to some of the ohm cylinders (200's?) and the little egg tweeter coherent audio monitors (CAM) before settling on some Cerwin Vegas back in '88 when I was in college and wanted to party. The cylinders were out of my price range and the CAM's were too "polite" as I recall. Ohm made an amazing array of products back in the day, from monkey coffins to tubes o' sound. Seemed to be enamored of passive radiators.
I bought a used pair of Ohm Walsh 2's years ago and still enjoy them every day. Clever dampening of the rear and side reflections helps. Certainly not the best speakers by a long margin but for the $200 I paid for the pair it has given me every bit of my moneys worth and then some. Match them up to a good EL84 amp like a Dyna 35 or better and you'll have a real treat. Most recent movie was the Coen Brother's "Hail Caesar!" and well it was entertaining but like a lot of movies these days left me feeling like it could have been more or said more. But then it was more or less an exercise in "absurdism."
I understand that omnis like reflections
I use a pair of omnis on a porch, with added subs, quite pleased with them despite lack of reflections.
(new production, in a higher price range than Ohm Walsh types though)
"A Man Escaped" 1956 Fr w subtitles -- it's "escape night" on TCM. Director Bresson. 7,000 resistance fighters were killed in this prison in Lyon.

TCM is always showing something of interest, Corman's "Bucket of Blood" tonight, if you have not seen it, all around my vote for his best very silly black comedy. Dick Miller rules again.
