Good (((3D))) flick.
Hi Chris, what a lovely day today! 😎
Do you mean "since 1962"? → The Official James Bond 007 Website | The Bonds => Click on them Bonds...to see the years of their films.
Well I guess that's the vagaries of inter-web search injuns for ya - my results went back almost a full decade further to an, I guess rather obscure, or at least not much seen TV version of Casino Royale starring Barry Nelson, then a couple of Bob's - one on radio, and believe it or not the stuntman seen in the blood-dripping gun barrel opening sequence in earliest few films. Pedantically, and chronologically, that would make Bob Simmons the first actor to be seen portraying Bond on the big screen.
Now if we were to talk about the impression made upon a pubescent punk upon seeing Ursula Andress' opening scene in Dr No- Honey Ryder, indeed- well, actually, it's time to go now
Still prefer Daniel to all of Sean's performances except FRWL
North, the 'set-up' vids for the Macaskill Ridge feature are entertaining in their own way. Typical for anything that crazy, making it look like 'another day at the office, no big whoop' is everything/anything but...
I find 'stagecraft' fun to watch. When I take in a concert, I enjoy watching the sound and AV guys work their 'practical magic' on us almost as much as the music itself. With the advent of MIDI and 'puters 'running the show', it's a long way from when we sat open-mouthed and stoned silly watching the light show..."Hey, wow, man..." *L*

Perhaps 'not your taste in music', but the 'show' would've plowed acid-heads into convulsions. *L*
(Personally, I like to listen to this sort of thing when I'm working in my office...No, I'm not 'normal'. *G* MOR isn't my thang...)

"50,000 watts of funky..."
I can't imagine how much amperage all of that takes.
Deadmau5 does some nice subtle stuff amidst all that....and a bass line that'll churn concrete. What's not to like? *L*

Went to watch The Key last night and Amazon wanted $10 us. I'll wait until I have someone over to watch it with.
Gimp, re your tag....I'm hip, I'd be happy to see my old canine friends again. And the felines, too. If they don't get along in the Great Beyond, we wouldn't either so WTF would be the point of being there at all. *L*
Besides, I'm thinking this electrochemical organic existence thing is really overrated. Same cyclic stuff over and over, day in day out. But then again, disembodied consciousness will likely get to be a grind after the first millennia or three too.
So what's one to do? Flick in and out between these states until the Big Crunch occurs? Wonderful....

Johnson City....hmmm....isn't that where y'all have Big Ones? No? Oh....sorry.... 😉

Watch out a humorous movie "3 idiots" few minutes ago. Basically this movie is interesting as well as educative. I like this one a lot.

I have a soft spot for that Twilight Zone episode, no horror no creatures, where the old guy won't go anywhere even in the afterlife without his dog.
By coincidence "8 Below" last night, and enjoyed it more than expected. How did they get those dogs to act like people? Along with the story of Hachikō another Japanese based story about man's best friend.
With all the articles I've seen lately about robots, I started watching "Ex Machina" last night.
I watched about half of it and as it was getting late, shut it off and went to bed. I'll watch the rest tonight. It looks like things are going to go downhill for the rest of the movie.

Ex Machina deserves the Oscar it got last night....the matchmove work is Perfect...
'A cautionary tale' about AI, and getting too friendly with your 'bots... *L*

after the juggernaut that "Fury Road" seemed to be becoming during the evening, Spotlight's win was rather a pleasant surprise
as for "Song of the Year" , while the decisions were obviously made months(?) ago, it was rather jarring to see yet another installment from a franchise long past its best by date take announced so soon after the heart-rending performance by ms Gaga - her comportment both during and afterwards were exemplary - well at least it wasn't 50 Shades' "Earned It"
is it just me, or did Chris and the others over do their "message" - at least one or two of his jokes were, I think, in rather questionable taste?

I thought 'Ex Machina' was a very neat and clever little film. Should be watched all the way through in one sitting though.....like all films! It is art....one does'nt look at half a painting one day and the other half on another!
Chris, yeah, he (CR) did get a little heavy-handed...but after all the brouhaha in the press I can't blame him for doing so. And 'they' let him...all the little vignettes, the 'stick in their faces' jokes are scripted after all ... The Academy knows it's going to get a kick in the shins from the whole debate in some form, so they allowed the host to have at it.
It was certainly memorable...and maybe something good will come of it. And CR was in fine form, dripping sarcasm all over the stage....*L*
"Song of the Year" is rarely all that memorable, and is generally blah. Remember the theme from the Titanic? If it hadn't been connected to that whole romantic interlude in the movie, it would have faded away just as quickly as this new one will...*yawn*
Jerryo, like your flag....😉 Ex was a strange bit of movie to digest. On a technical level, the effects presented were brilliantly done. The screenplay still creeps me out as a great way to not so gently remind us that a true AI might not act in our best interests. And it's been a trope in other movies of the past, but here it gets down into the 'up closer and 'Really Personal' level that smacks of some of the 'personal edification items' that are showing up from Japan. That and the 'life-like' 'bots that are showing up there lead me to wonder when that latex doll one buys as a joke now may someday stroll into your bedroom to fulfill it's function....
That, and the knowledge that one of the most popular things on the internet is porn leads me to believe IMHO the 'future' of ExM may not be so far off or 'far out' as shown. After all, if the 'physical side' of 'that equation' could be fulfilled without alot of that 'messy consciousness' stuff and you got a really great-looking maid in the bargain that didn't want you to go visit with the in-laws or paint the bedroom or 'change'....
Tell me that wouldn't sell....😉 To either sex.
*L* I'm just baying at the moon. We'll get the future we deserve. Liking it will be another issue....

Ex turned out differently than I expected. Quite worth watching and I'll watch it again for sure.
