finally got around to "Mad Max, Fury Road" - aside from the "what the what" was that actually about? the action, effects and editing were nothing short of addictive

A 2012 documentary about modern art...but very different than what you might imagine...
Incredible! ...Some artists go to the subconscious of the living human tissue...with eyes, emotions, feelings, ...the big city.
...Almost like being in the forest with all the trees and animals, vegetation, creeks, rivers, chutes, sky, clouds, wind, and all that natural jazz not created by man.
That's the big advantage of living in a big city full of people and different emotions from all experience and backgrounds.
You can sit and observe and think for months. Just like you can walk, observe, feel and be one with the forest. ...Or the forest of people...your choice, your peace, your destiny, your direction, your experience.
A genuine artist is a miserable pattern to draw. It never is finished. It keeps moving even after death, and way in space after billions of years in multiverse time.

We had a good laugh watcing "Calmos" (70s' movie) from Bernard Blier, a funny critic of men 's desires and erotic overdose (seing at the opposite of what you expect, the liberation mvt seen from the men side ! Clever and hilarous because surrealism scènes !)

Just watched "Full Metal Jacket", hadn't seen it before. I thought it was a fairly decent movie until he met up with "Cowboy". The basic training portion, the propaganda part and the door gunner scene were all nearly masterful, then it got pedestrian, IMO. I kind of wanted to see Animal Mother kick the crap out of joker....

For a good laugh, current era: Comedy Central's @Midnight, 'Net humour in a game show format. Watch the online version for what gets snipped by the censors. (Yup, nothing sacred, no one spared...)
Spouse watches food porn endlessly. I get to eat well, so I'm non committal. *L*
The X Files are back....'the truth is still out there'...Diogenes is, too...would we know it if we fell face forward into it? *sigh* Probably not...
Very little else floats my boat. 'They' are remaking movie plots that shouldn't be bothered with, as they're remakes of remakes, endless iterations.
Ex Machina was visually stunning CGI...but looked too much like a future that could be, the Terminator, slightly benign, more insidious and stealthy. And 'female'. With 'working parts'.
Her, a movie about Win11...well, maybe Win12. Siri on steroids. A tale that could wag you if you just can't live without your iPhone now...

I saw 'The Revenant' @ the theater last weekend. A well photographed love story between the Indians and the trappers from the early 1800s (it is still like this today).
Some scenes (a bunch) were filmed in British Columbia near The Rockies.
It's the same guy that did 'Birdman' last year with Michael Keaton.
Except that now in 'The Revenant' it is Leo DiCaprio (Titanic) and Tom Hardy (Mad Max).
Indeed, a beautiful love story with red roses and white snow. ...Oh, an a lovely bear too, a female grizzly bear who raped Leo. Actually it's a guy inside a bear suit but don't tell anyone that I told you.
I also watched other flicks recently from Blu-rays, but nothing major to report, not as intense love story like 'The Revenant'.
And the documentary 'Making a Murderer', based on a true story as well...is simply disgusting. ...Not only the murderer but also the prosecution, the police, the judge, the governor, the entire gang related to this case, even the members of the jury.
I was so repelled that I lost all human faith. It is extremely painful to realize we live among people like that.
...Very effective documentary. And reality is a harsh lesson that no sci-fi/horror flicks can't ever even approach.
